Our latest Podcast Series chapter comes courtesy of the Melbourne-based musician and label head ~ other joe 🤍

We discovered Joe’s work through the “.jpeg Bushfire Relief” charity compilation released on his inimitable .jpeg Artefacts label back in 2020 and never looked back. The release, as well as the general label curation, exudes uninhibited talent and diversity and this is true for Joe’s own productions too. His blend of jazzy acoustic passages with hazy, oozing electronics, spoken word and field recordings make for incredibly immersive and emotional listening experiences 🫧

Joe’s introspective mix is taking us on a voyage through all his various influences by bringing together electro-acoustic downtempo experiments, jazzed-up electronica and tingly, softly bubbling glitch ambient. All with a sprinkle of gentle euphoria, tender melancholy and just pure bliss ✨

Based in New York, CZ Wang is a DJ, producer, and engineer with deep ties to Vancouver’s influential Mood Hut collective. Over the past decade, he has played a pivotal role in shaping underground sounds, both as a selector and behind the scenes, contributing his skills to collaborations with artists like Huerco S, Nick Len, Okay Kaya, Daniela Lalita, DJ Python, Ana Roxanne, Jack J, and untitled (halo).

He holds residencies at Public Records and Eavesdrop, and regularly performs at renowned festivals like Sustain-Release and Warm Up MoMa PS1. His sets can also be heard at iconic clubs including Nowadays, Bar Part Time, Sunday Sunday, and Renate.

Texas native Gi Gi deals in head-down propulsive music. He’s released on a cast of labels including Good Morning Tapes (AUS), Quiet Time (USA), and INDEX:Records (UK/DE). Utilizing a collage-based approach that takes in a wide swath of source material, the result is a peculiar strain of ambient dance music equally at home in headphones or the back rooms of a club. 

As a DJ, the introspection that characterizes his music echoes throughout, but the net is cast wider. The energy inches upwards, and styles that trace contours in his productions present themselves more directly. Gi Gi brings nuance and warmth to his DJing, nudging dancers towards reflection and loungers towards movement.
