Bruce is Larry McCarthy, a musician and DJ who has been transcending the frontiers of underground electronic music in its many shapes and forms for well over a decade. One of the major figures of the new generation of UK bass music, Larry is affiliated with the labels at the vanguard of the genre including Hessle Audio, Timedance and Livity Sound yet the expanse of his sonic world stretches out way beyond the scope of these outlets alone. Bruce’s invested interest in boundless artistic experimentation and candid self-expression lead to the release his pop ambient magnum opus “Not Ready For Love” in 2023 and is impeccably presented in this powerful and deeply emotive mix 🔮

This beautiful recording captures the essence of an engaged deep listening experience within the context of conscious retreat meets passionate interest in experimental electro-acoustic music. Challenging and sublime, it is a portal to mindful contemplation of the sound & silence continuum, riding through swells of field recordings, vocal music, raw electro-acoustic experiments and both dark and luminous ambient. It is a journey that unties inhibition and holds space for the vulnerability that comes with that release. Listen without judgement, gently and with curiosity 🤍

Podcast Series 46 | Introspective Electronics x Bodily • Bruce

Launched by FYI Robyn in 2023, Bodily is a series of events, sound system-led workshops, and hybrid retreats that explore sonic and self-exploration. 

Bodily is a community project at the intersection of sound, somatics and collective dance floor experiences, promoting holistic well-being within the music industry and contemporary dance spaces. 

Through carefully curated lineups, Bodily presents restorative workshops, DJs, and live acts that immerse attendees in ambient, downtempo, introspective, and tripped-out dance floor excursions.

Past Bodily events include sold-out retreats, biannual London-based day events, movement workshops at club venues like The Cause, London’s new Sauna Social Club, and various music festivals. In September, Darwin (Reef) invited FYI Robyn to host a Bodily workshop in Berlin ahead of her new event series ABYSS—a project merging low-end frequencies with the pursuit of holistic well-being.
