Macadam Mambo have been a prolific force in left leaning punk sounding electronica for almost 7 years, which everyone knows is a lucky number, and we are so totally lucky to be able to bring the premiere of this wonderful and wacky 7 inch to you from United Assholes - "La Les Chachats, La Les Chienchiens". Originally part of a compilation released on Lost Dogs as part of a cassette compilation, this now gets an airing on vinyl, giving the wax addicts something to get excited about.

Hailing from different places in western Europe, Luc Bersier, Low Bat, Leonard Prochazka and Ariel Garcia created this vibrant EP. Their synergy tells a story of creativity, freedom in sound and, above all, playfulness. Serious music while similarly not being to earnest. 
Their venture evolved into a very original blend of cosmic music, utilizing instruments that fit into the neofolk Krautrock domain, vocal experiments into French chanson territory, infused in Berlinian cosmopolitanism. Expect an exciting minimal wave synth punk orgy, punk definitely being the defining trait underneath these layers of sound. 
This is boundless music with attitude, capable of making us drift off and disrupt us in equal measure.

Inversions returns with an assemblage of miscellanea from the magnetic tape archives of Dunkelziffer and Phantom Band guitarist Dominik Von Senger. Capturing impromptu moments of between the scenes coaction amongst the likes of Reebop Kwaku Baah, Jaki Liebezeit and Dominik himself, to create an animated picture of his communal musical activities at Brüsseler Platz, during a fertile period for underground music and art in Cologne, and exhibit a mosaic of moods, from mirthful to meditative.

There was a wooden sign which hung precariously above the doorframe, it looked as though it had been etched with a small pen knife from many moons ago. The bar was crowded and busy, smoke hung thick in the air as men chatted over hushed candlelight about dodgy deals and bad deeds. This was the wrong side of town to be caught out on - once you were in there was no turning back, that's for sure. A red light flickered inside by the jukebox which played loudly to the busy room. Ex Ponto was the bar's name, it was the type of place you might not leave alive and for those that did they'd count their stars and lucky prayers.

General Purpose is an Australian record label, an eclectic outlet for oddball balearic music, weird eclectic post punk and the spaces in between. This is perhaps best showcased by a new release from Ex Ponto of whom they can tell the story better than I...

"‘Neka Neka’ is the first solo release by multi-disciplinary artist, Ex Ponto (Ivan Mašić). Coming of age during the mid-90s Melbourne rave scene, Ivan was infected with music by the legendary Kate Bathgate on 3RRR community radio. Hearing music by the likes of Oliver Lieb, Will E Tell, HMC & and other producers of the time, an infection quickly turned into a music obsession that lives on today. In the following years Ivan would go on to manage one of Melbourne’s longest running record stores (Dixons Records) and in 2005 built a recording studio, aptly named The Womb. From 2005–15, he produced and played on over 20 albums for improvisation collective, Council of Elders and experimental, no-wave band, Wunderlust. ‘Neka Neka’ is a nod to ex-Yugoslavian experimentalists of the 80s (Rex Ilusivii, Kozmetika, Miha Kralj etc) and the thriving, late-night hedonism of Belgrade’s Club 20/44."

The music is suitably weird and rough around the edges - as you might expect. This one is a little bit special.

"This mix was destined for the shelf in my opinion. As a DJ, I truly enjoy the craft of beat mixing and building moods through a mix that is more than the sum of its parts. When you strive for that and hit some unexpected high points but then miss something really simple along the way it is so frustrating. Sure, you can do re-takes or even edit the whole set after the fact, but that would mean admitting defeat on some level. I’ve re-used parts of this mix in other sets, so to put it on the shelf didn’t burden me in the slightest at first. Listening to it again some two years later, I can hear it with somewhat fresh ears and be more accepting of my few sloppy mistakes. It dawns on me that much of the music I enjoy has imperfections that adds a lot to the experience. This is the music I play, and I encourage everyone else working as a creative to take a second look at their shelf."
