Vril's progression from the early Giegling run of numbered EPs to last year’s considerably more intense 1-2 of Torus and Vortekz made perfect sense: the faceless producer came out the other side of dubby club fare into more intense, bleak terrain. 2014’s breakout year was capped by his ferocious teardown at our Dystopian showcase; replete with rushing, quasi-Resident Evil visuals, it was a masterwork - easily one of our Best of 2014.

Incredibly, Delsin actually chose to sign on Vril for a sophomore LP on the strength of his Boiler Room set, citing the "energy of some tracks and the crowd's reaction, which was really good." First debuted on our screens, “Portal 7” is everything you could want in a techno track. Pistons pump, steam valves release and tectonic plates shift underfoot - in short, it's a total ripper. Throw yourself tumbling headfirst down the Portal.

French artist based in Bordeaux Von Grall is an emerging figure of the contemporary deep techno scene. After releasing on a VA for Semantica Records, Planet Rhythm and Annulled Music in 2014, he shared a split EP with Milton Bradley on Shipwerk sublabel Deep Sound Channel. He also released 3 four tracks EPs on Midgar Records and Semantica in 2016. Von Grall is surely someone to watch, having many other big projects in the pipeline to be released in the next month.

Streaming in full through our channel is @asacredgeometry B-side opener and diptych first section 'Earendel (Part 1)'. Certainly the most vaporous cut of the package, the track fits somewhere between the heartrending frailty of Pantha Du Prince compositions and Efdemin's aery 4/4 rollers. Subtle drums and delayed hats beat a delicate hypnotic stomp but the pad scrim's radiance wins the day.

Releasing on Tresor Records, February 24th on 12" vinyl and digital. 

Tresor’s newest release features BNJMN on Body Reflections Pt. 1. The four track EP captures a uniquely subdued mood that resides at the nexus of ambient dance music, and that integrates seamlessly with Tresor’s penchant for restrained and dub-inflected techno.

Each track on the EP introduces symmetry and rhythm in the form of organic percussion. “Overskies" and “Enceladus" are more lethargic and ethereal, each blanketed with discordant melodies and arcing synth lines. "Hadal Zone" is more dance-oriented - here, a sophisticated interplay of percussive elements loop over plaintive vocals and soft harmonies. “Syzygy" then brings the EP to a techno-focused close with driving kicks, oscillating synths, and repeating minor chords.

Body Reflections Pt. 1 is deeply illustrative of BNJMN’s affinity for creating nuanced and delicately balanced layers, and a culmination of his vast experience.

Zurich veteran Idealist delivers the 'Source' EP for Copenhagen’s Echocord in what is his debut on the renowned imprint. The release features three originals cuts as it follows previous releases on the likes of Pro-Tez, Lackrec and Berg Audio for the Swiss producer. You can catch the lead track in full premiere via When We Dip today. 'Flow' is dub techno delight, a punchy production coated in a beautifully textured manner.  It's yet another impressive outing from Idealist. Listen below.
