Following the fevered reception of their 2018 single “HAL,” the union between main stage lovemaker Kölsch and techno iceman Tiga has returned with “Hand in Hand,” a rapturous exercise in sacral catharsis that many are calling the ultimate set closer. 

Emboldened to use his natural speaking voice for the first time on the title track, Tiga is eager to open up about this sentimental departure from his usual fare: “When it comes down to it, I’m an emotional frogman, When I hear a beating heart, I dive right in heart-first.”

Meanwhile, B-side “Almost Everything” takes the vibe into Kölsch’s signature indescribable euphoric heights. So indescribable in fact that we had to ask BO, Turbo’s proprietary AI and Metadata Scraper, to analyze the track based on tempo, emotional valence, and “fun factor”. His conclusion: “Total banger.” Thanks, BO!

Reflecting on just what he’s achieved here with his Danish friend Kölsch, Tiga is characteristically thoughtful: “Would you rather have a gun in your hand, or a hand in your hand? If you even have to think about the answer, you need to open your heart ASAFP because nothing less than the future of love and music hangs in the balance. It’s entirely up to you."

Another carefully handpicked release reaffirms the steady consistency of the Esquimau imprint in nurturing jazzy, deep, and timeless old-school sounds. Chilean producer Matias V makes his debut with the 3AM, Manhattan Bridge EP, delivering two deep and jazz-tinged original cuts that stay true to Esquimau's signature aesthetic. Both '3AM, Manhattan Bridge' and 'Another Day' sit somewhere between glassy-eyed U.S. garage nostalgia and the colorful deep house of the late '90s and early 2000s, showcasing classic elements like lush chords, organ keys and piano riffs. Elegant, warm, subtle but energetic music, creating a momentum of infinity. Our favorit Romanian artist known for his productions, his quality Amphia label, a:rpia:r as well as his SIT project with Vlad Caia teams up with DeWalta from Berlin who continues to refine his output on Meander. These two kindred spirits met at DeWaltas studio to create a spaced-out musical treatment, captivating body and mind. Lisa Milloy, joined the creative process, adding beautifully flowing words, recorded in one take as stream of conciousness. Breath in and dance to their melodies with a clever groove that just flows onwards. With the record Basorelief, released in 2014 Meander already introduced the greatly talented Cristi Cons to its circle. Now these two artists, bringing Bucharest and Berlin further together, deliver a hightly anticipated follow-up with this record filled with rhythmic material for the space between.

The first track ‘’Inside world’’ is composed by Hunter/Game, as a playful banger with a solid kick, brushed percussions and surging, subtly atmospheric synth pads that make the track dreamy while fierce.

The second one by Pisetzky comes with a strong, continuous 4/4 bassline and organic percussion from start to end, further on dominated by a hypnotic melody followed by a more romantic and dreamy motif full of longing melancholy and eternity.

The third one comes from Just This new Artist Altman, with a breaking mellow downbeat theme, it lets all squeaky sounds mesh nicely like a dream landscape opening up into a widescreen chord progression, with an epic build up.

Feels incredible to be releasing my Debut Album, it's been such a long process and such a long challenge it kind of felt like this day would never come, but it did.

Conceptually the album is about romanticizing a naive world view. That naiveness and ignorance is something to be cherished. There's something really beautiful about the perfect worldview you have as a kid, that the world is harmless, beautiful and good. The more you learn and experience though the more you realise everything isn't perfect. So the less you know the more beautiful it is, it's the things we haven't done, the places we don't know, that have this unquestionable beauty to it. it's this world i'm trying to mirror with my album, the one that stays in your imagination.

Musically i knew i wanted to do a sonic representation of the concept, blending worldly sounds with small bedroom type samples and soundscapes. I really loved the idea of those two polarizing things being the two main factors that would lay the ground for the album.

10 short years ago, a series of mysterious 12inch bomb-grade jack tracks began. Released under the moniker Traffic Signs, the releases appeared yearly from 2003 with very little hype or fuss – but went on to smash up dancefloors across the world in the hands of in-the-know DJs.  

Eventually it slipped out that the tracks were the work of Poker Flat head Steve Bug – a conduit for playful, upfront house with a tongue in cheek attitude. Now the cat is well and truly out of the bag, Poker Flat have graciously complied this stunning collection of all the Traffic Sign releases - with the cherry on top being one devastating lost track and an exclusive re-edit of a classic. 

'I Like Your Booty' and 'The Big Fake' originally kicked off the series, and still sound massive today – rough and raw rhythms that have proved their worth over the years, and still remain in many discerning DJ’s boxes.  

Also here is the mighty, mind-scrambling 'VCM Nation', and its original flip side 'Work Yeah'. Both remain as prime an example of how to jack a dancefloor to within an inch of its collective life as you are likely to come across. 

'Been in Glue' from 2005 pursues a more minimal funk route, highly charged and restless house music that will worm its way into your brain, as will the cheekily named 'Back on Crack'’s narcotic charms. 

'Noize Alarm' is the exclusive lost track here – and what a treat it is. Mr Bug switches easily back into his Traffic Signs persona to produce yet another driving, hypnotic workout for the mind and body – its sly nod to French Kiss proving this is an alter ego the label boss can really have some fun with. This one will blow up big, mark our words. 

Elsewhere, Marc Ashken’s previously unreleased re-edit of 'I Like Your Booty' is another one for the collectors – stripped down ass-shaking electronic funk that serves as a perfect companion piece to the remix he conducted with DJ T – also included here. 

Partly remastered where needed, Steve Bug presents Traffic Signs marks a welcome return for this project – and the perfect chance for those that might have missed them the first time round to pick up some true underground classics.
