Tapirus is the second alias from Rotterdam based musician Charlton Ravenburg who also produces as Charlton. With his Tapirus moniker Charlton delivers a more acid inclined take on Detroit and Chicago house and techno. His influences include Drexciya, Basic Channel and Convextion.

Following the release of "Trying To Make Something Of Life" EP earlier this year on Midnight Shift Records we caught up with Tapirus to find out more about his involvement with the Singapore based label, his musical heritage and local hang outs in Rotterdam. Tapirus also discusses forthcoming releases with DJ Spider and Bliq Records scheduled for 2014. His mix features music from Marcellus Pittman, James T Cotton, Nick Dunton, Tin Man, A Guy Called Gerald, Chicago Skyway, Steve Summers, Model 500 and many more.

"We don't get the benefits of a regular rub down as we used to, but when it happens, it remains a bit of a treat. The chaos of the early discogs forums introduced us over 20 years ago but also because we shared a love of proper deep music and the high life. We've done some Estimulo Shows, SUNK parties (with Chris) and many lost all nighters together before trajectories diverged. This one was a recent Saturday night, just winging it whilst quaffing notable Italian Reds. Its mildly amusing to me (Andy) that this recording leans into Dub Techno, a genre for which Truly has peculiar aversion to… and yet we are left feeling for dubby chords, swirling delays, some elegiac melodies and our passion for the proper tunage......one more rider?"

The third Outis Podcast Series Episode. 

Brando Lupi

After ten years of futile siege the Greeks, following a plan devised by Odysseus, pretended to renounce to the conquest of the city and come back home leaving on the beach a huge wooden horse; it was intended as offering to appease the gods and propitiate the return trip in homeland. But hidden inside the horse there were the bravest Greek warriors led by Odysseus.
Odysseus's plan included a  man who would have been left outside of the horse.
A Greek soldier named Sinon was the only volunteer for the role.
In Virgil's poem, Sinon successfully convinces the Trojans that he has been left behind and that the Greeks were gone.
Sinon tells the Trojans that the Horse was an offering to the goddess Athena, meant to expiate for the previous desecration of her temple during the Troy's siege by the Greeks, and ensure a safe journey home for their fleet.
The Horse was built on such a huge size to prevent the Trojans from taking the offering into their city, and thus garnering the favor of Athena for themselves.
The Trojans, happy for this, dragged the horse inside the city walls, despite Laocoon and the prophetess Cassandra had previously advised them not to.
In our case the task of opening the doors of the fourth release (Outis004) has been entrusted to another dear friend and respected musician from Rome,
Mr. Brando Lupi;
I shared with him , even if not directly, the years spent in Elettronica Romana and Dozzy Records.
He has delighted us with a wonderful mix and I am truly honored to be able to host him on this label.
From my personal point of view Brando has a unique taste and his music is a strong feeling of a versatile artist without cliché and that's why his music has always intrigued me.
