Hot on the heels of 'Vision Mixtape' Vol. 1, electronic music label U-TRAX invite Dutch producer Legowelt, aka Danny Wolfers, to curate a second compilation album.
Danny Wolfers is a truly prolific producer and performer who effortlessly spans various electronic music styles. Most frequently producing as Legowelt, his unique style comes from an unfaltering devotion to hardware, be it old, new or completely worn out. Wolfers spends his days jamming on music-making toys with his output veering from dense techno to whizzing electro, deeper electronic and everything in between. Clone, L.I.E.S., Bunker, you name it, they have all come calling for the man's music. Quite simply, Legowelt is a musical force with boundless artistry.
Wolfers and U-TRAX label boss DJ White Delight first met each other at the doorsteps of record store Rush Hour during A.D.E. 2018. Being a fan of Legowelt, White Delight spoke to Wolfers for over an hour before discovering he was the producer Legowelt. As a high school kid in the mid-90s, U-TRAX were a vital label for Wolfers, and some of the first records he ever bought (at I.F.'s legendary The Hague Hotmix Record Store) were U-TRAX releases. Legowelt decided to post his first demo tape to U-TRAX, taking huge inspiration from early releases on the label. Due to a twist of fate, that tape ended up at someone else's mailbox, and U-TRAX never got to learn about Wolfers' genius before going into a 21-year hibernation in 1997.
Fast forward to 2021 and Legowelt and U-TRAX finally join forces, with Wolfers picking some of his all-time favourites from the U-TRAX back catalogue and Phoq U Phonogrammen archives, in addition to taking a peek at future U-TRAX releases. He selected the 14 tracks, wrote very personal notes for each one and created artwork in his characteristic style. His drawing depicts some Utrecht landmarks, like the Dom Tower (as featured in the U-TRAX logo) and the city's unique canals.
The compilation brings a wide range of electronic music, from smooth ambient techno to hard electro, and spicing things up further with acid, techno and hip hop flavours. It features nine tracks from the 90s archives of U-TRAX and Phoq U Phonogrammen, by techno favourites like The Connection Machine, Tick Trax, P.A. Presents, Sonar Base and one track by Sp@sms from 2019. This selection of classics is completed by four brand new tracks from forthcoming U-TRAX albums by artists like hip-hop producer Thavius Beck (N.Y.C.), old school electro producer Nuklear Prophet (L.A.) and new school electro producer w1b0 (N.L.).
All tracks received a fresh new mastering treatment by Thee J Johanz of Bally Hoo Studios for this release.

Music Yared features ​Haftu Reda​ and ​Anbessa Gebrehiwot,​ Eritrean and Ethiopian musicians and members of the Tigray culture that stretches across colonial borders to encompass regions in both Eritrea and Ethiopia. Both are now living in Melbourne, Australia, members of a diaspora that have travelled the world in search of a life free from human rights abuses, civil war and famine.
Anbessa​ ​Gebrehiwot ​arrived in Australia 2007 with renowned singer Abraham Gebremedihn, to perform for the Ethiopian communities in Sydney and Melbourne. As a songwriter in Ethiopia in those days, Anbessa was always under suspicion from the government who interpreted his songs as having hidden political meanings even though the songs were completely innocent. After arriving in Australia, Anbessa discovered that one of his colleagues had been arrested back home and he then sought asylum in Australia.
Originally a civil engineer in his home country, ​Haftu​ ​Reda ​arrived in Melbourne in 2013 and also sought asylum. Leaving behind a wife and four children, Haftu worked for five years in various construction jobs whilst saving the fare for visas and travel for his family with the hope that they might one day join him and settle in Australia. Haftu joined Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC), the same asylum seeker organisation which had previously provided support to Anbessa. It was there that Haftu met multi-instrumentalist ​Dale Gorfinkle​ who was, at that time, voluntarily facilitating a community music ensemble. Soon after, Haftu met Anbessa through a fundraising performance at the centre, though had previously known of Anbessa ‘from the TV’.
Music Yared’s compositions are inspired by traditional Etheopian and Eritrean folk songs and they sing about love, distance, separation and culture. Their songs also feature virtuosic mastery of traditional instruments - the ​krar​, (a 5 string lyre style instrument), and the ​masinko​ (a single string violin-like instrument that is played using a bow.) Although inspired by tradition, Music Yared’s compositions embrace the notion that music is always developing and changing with the times.Taking influence from traditional folk songs, Music Yared finds newness and originality through their personal approach to their lyrics, their treatment of rhythm, and the creation of new beats. This change and openness to new sounds is also apparent in their instrumentation, as they pair their traditional instruments with drums, as well as samples of bass lines and percussion.
Given their openness to new musical approaches and experimentation, it only seems fitting for the songs of Music Yared to be remixed, allowing further exploration of their inherent musical attitudes towards change and development. The first single from the EP, ​Sindayo (Mikey Young’s Masinko Remix - Radio Edit) ​traverses new sonic territory, pairing the traditional character of Music Yared with contrasting ideas from different sonic landscapes. Beginning with musical acknowledgement of the original song, Young’s remix then changes direction into a new sonic world; synth pads and melodies swell and intertwine, samples interject, whilst grooving electronic beats underpin a new approach to texture and song structure.

As he entered he cast his eyes around the room, taking in a mirage of flickering colours and luminous buttons. He had been travelling for what had felt like a lifetime through the dense and murky undergrowth in search of the mysterious cavern. Now as he sat perched upon the rubble he truly knew his purpose.

Hiber-nation EP was Recorded at Siesta Delfauno, Buenos Aires, Argentina in December 2019. A place steeped in history and that has seen artists like Carl Craig , DJ Hell and Rob Acid grace its halls. Ara-u worked alongside engineer and member of Argentinian electronic band Klauss Pablo Gil, while getting lost in red wine and deep into the jam amongst a mix of analogue machines. The noise echoed between the walls of the old metal framework, it bounced and reverberated inside what was now little more than an empty shell. In the old space ship he sat watching the stars in the night sky - they glittered and glistened against a backdrop of pristine, dense black. He wondered what it might be like out there - in the open expanse, beyond the confines of gravity, where time stood still. This was everything. 

Flug 8 is set to re-release an old track of his digitally which was met with much acclaim and praise in previous years. The EP features collaborations with Acid Pauli and is now available on his label, Kerosene.
