She chose music over a PhD – a truly reasonable decision if you're familiar with Julienne's discography and some of her releases on labels such as Kompakt, Optimo or Hippie Dance. Since 2012 the Berliner has taken the electronic music scene gradually, has put out her music either with Sascha Funke as Saschienne, The Twins or The Fantastic Twins and has made an ongoing impression with collaborative works like Train of Fantastic, her EPs Lost In Germany, The New You or her Obakodomo LP, to name a few. Julienne dearly has to offer quite some bits when it comes and 2020 does not seem to change that. With more than 70 unfinished demos on her hard disk, two new but not fully her own pieces of music will be released this week. Firstly, the Berliner by choice, Glaswegian by heart and originally French artist teamed up with Juan MacLean for the aromantic track She's Breaking Up in order to give an intense psychedelic experience a voice and secondly she reworked Shari Vari's tune Now. While She's Breaking Up will be out on Correspondant, Julienne's remix approach will be released on Malka Tuti. Reason enough to chat and get some insights on Julienne's personal and artistic being, how she turned to a Berliner and much more.

"Czech producer Ladislav Zensor aka Exhausted Modern turns out his debut album on experimental electro label Endless Illusion projecting his artistic statement on these strange modern times we find ourselves within. Guest appearances from the likes of NVST on ‘Something stronger’ connects the dots between the somewhat industrious otherworldly vocals with the despondent futuristic melody. Stylistically the album is vast, combining dance-orientated tracks with tunes that act more as interludes to some extent, such as ‘T-Maze’ and ‘Working Rats’. "Most of Fitz's fans know her for a deep and cosmic sound defined by excellent track selections, but her style is always changing. Since she was a teenager, she's loved and played everything from soul to trip-hop to techno to ambient, and she thinks of her sound today as a culmination of her many influences over the years. It's also the result of the personal experiences she's had, from Body & Soul parties in New York to psytrance raves in Jakarta to festivals like rural in Japan and Freerotation in Wales, both of which are proud to have her as a regular"

She wrote for use some words about this mix:

"Every track on this mix was made in Italy during the early to mid 90s, mostly, but not exclusively, from the north. A lot of it is from Toscana, home of Tropical Animals. It’s my tribute to a specific fluid and entrancing music that has shaped my sound as a DJ for the past eight years or so. Not as well known Italo, Cosmic, minimalism, deep house,  or even Italy’s psychedelic rock, but it’s a sound that brings in elements all of these. But this sound is something different  - dynamic, imaginative and full of drama. It’s hard to mix, because most of the records have long, twisting intros and the tracks don’t stop changing and evolving until the very last bars. It doesn’t play by the rules. Progressive, yes. Trance, techno, house? Maybe a little bit of all. To me, it’s simply the unmistakeable sound of Italy, the sound I love"

The (in)famous ice skater Wosto, after his solo EP, returns on Raw Culture, this time, bringing reinforcements with him: NOSTALGIE ÉTERNELLE (Inox Kapell and Dieter Mauson) . SAUERSTOFFF (oxygen / one F for every freak as they say) is the name of their band.
We choose the track "Kinskis", simultaneously embracing the emerging post-punk/ industrial strain with a stripped down gothdub approach and showcases a unique take on electronic-infused post-rock. The arrangements are imbued spaciousness,  trebly, splintering smudged highs, minimalist twanging surf guitar  and unusually dreamy vocal achieve it with poise and flair preserving the project’s aura.

Amsterdam-based duo @SpillGold grace @Knekelhuis for their debut LP, 'Highway Hypnosis', consisting of seven unnerving and left-of-centre songs that sit comfortably with the Dutch label's infamous repertoire.

"Under exhausted lights of civil discontent the count has just begun. What you parodied, what you scrutinised rears its pure gaze when punctured beyond performance. We cried for justice but instead found order, and now we face the chain."

Purveyors of dark and synth-laden delights, Berlin-based label She Lost Kontrol kickstart the new year with an eerie offering from South London duo PC World. Marking the pair's second release, the four original tracks on 'Order' aim to "disfigure the unconscious reduction of pleasure and fetish, the connective tissue between privatisation and violence, the seduction of societal norms, and the neurotic tendencies of self-defeat". 

Sonically the release blends darkwave influences and mutant punk with warped industrial, backed up by two additional takes on the title track from a couple of synth-punk veterans: former member of High-Functioning Flesh, Physical Wash, and Aktion Mutante which features members of Violent Poison and Unhuman.
