Dublin born & based Long Island Sound (Rob Roche & Tim Nolan) have been honing their craft since the DJ/Producer duo’s inception in 2015. Cutting their teeth in Berlin, the pair broke through over 2019 following a release on Bobby Analog’s Body Fusion and their ‘Initial Ascent’ EP on their Signs Of Space imprint. 

Garnering support from Midland and Bicep, they were then invited to contribute to the ‘Feel My Bicep’ mix series. Following the success of their second EP on SOS, ‘Broken Signals’, LIS were invited to contribute to DJ Mag’s Fresh Kicks series and featured on Maribou State’s ‘Fabric Presents’ compilation. 

Picking up serious momentum over 2019, the duo booked a string of gigs and festivals across Europe, the UK and US, including AVA Festival and Griessmuehle, before coming full circle for their first Boiler Room in their hometown in February 2020. With their back catalogue gaining support from industry heavyweights including Anja Schneider, Cinthie, Tijana T, Hammer and Skatebard, LIS dropped ‘First Contact EP’ on Hammer’s Remmah imprint in January 2022, which received a glistening review from Resident Advisor. 

We recently caught up with Rob and Tim as they get ready for the release of their highly anticipated debut album titled “Lost Connection!” We spoke with them about their origisn, growing up in Dublin, the gear they collect, plus much more. City in 16-Bit feels like walking neon streets inside an old arcade screen — retro synth bells flicker, drum machines tick, and a bassline bounces with pixelated warmth. At 100 BPM in C minor, it rides the sweet spot between nostalgia and drive: dreamy pads blur into magical arp hits, while gated snares push the rhythm like a side-scrolling skyline. Melancholy but alive, it’s a synth-pop postcard from the 80s–90s future — equal parts arcade romance and midnight city glow.

Job Sifre is one of the guys bringing new blood into the Amsterdam scene. This is the follow-up to his recently released debut on the new Artifical Dance label, where he continues his path of solid EBM fueled electronix. The record ends with the gorgeous ‘At Least We Try’, showing of his more tripping, rhythmic side. Beautiful complementary artwork by Stefan Unkovic.

The water was wild and dangerous as the boat moved across the dense, blue expanse. The sails were rattling against the frame of the ship and inside the cabins people began to get nervous and concerned for their own safety. There was a banging noise which was loud and oppressive - it hurt the ears and silenced alarms upon deck. The storm had been forecast and predicted for some time but nobody had known that it might hit with as much abrupt and abrasive force as this. The Pacific drums echoed loudly in the air as the clouds rolled in overhead. 

Jad & The is set to release a new EP described as "an ode to his ocean side upbringing". It draws upon a deep rooted love of abstract electronics and the ethereal sounds sometimes associated with dream house. The release will soon be available on Beats Of No Nation.
