This limited Psychedelic Meltdown cassette release is linked to an event series of the same name curated by The Slow Brown Fox, taking place at Sameheads in Berlin. As stated by its name, the series aims to mind-bend the audience through trippy and unexpected music, freely flowing between electronica and sounds from the beyond.

This first showcase presents a double mixtape released via Sameheads being the manifestation of the magic experienced on the inaugural night of January 6, 2024 featuring Loma Doom, Akvilina, Lizzie Urquhart and The Slow Brown Fox.

Cologne-based record label Sonig prepare to release Mouse On Mars' real-time sonic interpretation of Werner Herzog's fictional documentary 'Fata Morgana' (1971), which captures mirages in the Sahara and Sahel deserts...Our pick from the release is 'zeHrog'. Evoking the illusion of sun-drenched realms, the tracks starts with space-echoed drum patterns intertwined with scorched guitar riffs and untroubled echoes of humanity, engulfing the listeners in a stark phantasmagoria, reminiscent of laid-back cowboys drifting in daydreams of dub-infused waterfalls flowing through untamed jungles.

Michele Mininni's debut album 'Pop Archetypes' from back in May proved to be a left-of-centre favourite all summer long. 'Urban Voodoo' lives up to its name with an intoxicating blend of mystic melodies, busy rhythms and exotic strings. It's dense yet loose and grows ever more wild as a patchwork of vocals, chants and cries emerges from the mix next to rousing chords.

Mister Saturday Night, Let’s Play House and Musica Fottutissima associate Keita Sano hails from Okayama, Japan. He has a sound that defines easy categorisation as it blends club grooves, trippy experimentalism and global influences. His Good Luck remix strips things back to a deep techno rhythm and details it with delicate melodic refrains before rebuilding with the sound cracking whips, tribal percussion and lashings of black magic. The Urban Smell Remix is a wild nine-minute dance around the campfire with iconic synth samples, tons of reverb and percolating drum funk that will keep you guessing.
