February was a good month! Not only did we defy ghostbusters II and survive valentines day (actually scrap that... surviving corporate love day any year is an achievement) but 2016 is a leap year! This of course means that everybody gets an extra guilt free day to do with what you please, unless of course it happens to fall on a monday and then all plans of gleeful abandonment are accompanied by the inevitable New Order soundtrack. Damn!

On the plus we have a whole bucket load of cracking new music to pour into your lugholes.

Gold Panda is back with new track Time Eater, which sees a continued love affair with the orient, as well as new material from the likes of Detroit Swindle, Pedestrian, Com Truise and Leon Vynehall to name a few.

We also get more new material from Nils Frahm's latest collaborative project, Nonkeen on the mighty R&S as well as a rare remix from none other than Boards of Canada, which is rather lovely to say the least. Plus of course a broad selection from old favourites and new gems.

American producer James Cook has quietly built a reputation for unhurried yet deeply considered electronic music. First appearing on Greta Cottage Workshop back in 2013 with his debut CD album 'Sleep Deep, Mountain King' and later stepping out under his Black Point alias for two vinyl releases on Cologne’s revered Out To Lunch, Cook’s productions have always carried a sense of clarity and patience.

Long-time readers may remember that in July 2020 we published IA MIX 336 Black Point, a revealing mix and interview that offered insight into both his background in music and production techniques. That mix hinted at the directions he would later explore, and 'EP 2' issued through Tokyo-based @format-records (pronounced "format"), extends that trajectory - gathering fragments of the past decade into a finely detailed four tracker.

French producer @synalegg returns to @ooh-sounds with Computer Series / Last Run - the final chapter in his radical generative music experiment. Built in Pure Data, Synalegg’s system composes autonomously, creating immersive, unpredictable sound worlds that blur the line between human design and machine logic.

The result recalls Autechre’s algorithmic precision, Jimmy Edgar’s Michaux project, and the mechanical curiosity of Aphex Twin’s Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt2 - yet feels entirely its own. Glitching rhythms, fractured harmonics, and fleeting human cadences emerge from the code, forming an uncanny balance between control and surrender.

Vibra Vibra is a new series by Sha Ru, a duo perpetually in nomadic motion, renowned for their deft blend of spoken word and bass-heavy electronics. This first release turns inward on music’s physical pulse, tracing how frequencies ripple through bodies and spaces, shaping the way sound is felt as much as heard.

Low-end waves move like invisible currents — compressing the chest at 50–60Hz, sinking through the gut and legs at 20–40Hz, buzzing in the skull at 60–100Hz. Each track maps these zones, treating bass as a tangible force that sculpts both body and room.

> One single record that you could play forever, what track would it be? And why?

TEFI: Not a track but my whole album “Meal & Meow”, which is my first album and it always fit everywhere.

BANDITST4R: It’s hard to pick just one track, but I have a soft spot for ‘Diciendo Adiós’ by Slim Soledad; It’s a track I’ve played countless times. It’s powerful and raw, with those acidic breaks that make me feel like a witch casting spells on the dance floor.

@skip011 lands on Grid with his second EP 'Breathworks', following his debuts on Stoneground last year. The Torino-based producer offers us four mind-blowing tracks blending dubstep with organic textures (reminding us a certain Kevin Murf).
Megamangled makes it clear from the outset what is going to happen : an uncompromising release in which basses and silences are chirurgically combined to create outstanding grooves. Foxiness continues on the slow and heavy vibe, adding shamanic deep voices and futuristic sounds from the jungle.The eponymous track Breathworks seems to pitch the BPM up but this dark mechanical groove with strange breathing sounds actually stays on the dubstep side, perfect for a party in Twin Peaks's Black Lodge. The closing track Everything Dubbed takes things even further on organic textures, drowning rusty iron percussions into the ocean depths.
