Plebeian returns to the Eternal Ocean, continuing his exploration of psycho-cerebral realms with a collection of six sonic spells titled “Graffiti World”

“Splashes of color accent immersive and introspective environments full of unexpected aural organisms and secret passageways. Playful rhythms bounce off of one another, discreetly stuttering and slithering between carefully considered spectral and pointillistic textures. An enveloping bass weight massages the listener, providing the foundation to an alien world full of unknown life. The landscape is shrouded in a mist of psychedelic fog, which clears in brief moments revealing shimmering and resplendent views that defy language. Coming down from the heights, we are taken back into the depths of this new terrain, grappling with how to describe what was experienced. Grid kick off 2024 with Contrast EP, a mesmerising collection of future-facing tracks from certified one-to-watch Plebeian. The NYC producer is quickly garnering deserved attention for his acutely detailed and explorative bass productions reminiscent of Objekt and Djrum.

With his EP Plebeian offers up four shimmering and lush dance organisms that exist in an ecosystem entirely of their own. Microscopic drum engineering coupled with flourishes of dubbed out percussion, moments of blissful beauty and infinitely oscillating synth swells, all distilled to create 4D soundscapes that will captivate and intrigue the listener.

Berlin-based imprint Lightronics kick off their schedule with a full-length album of experimental club sounds and post-ambient textures from label boss Sasha Zakrevska aka Poly Chain...Standout track, ‘Elisiv’, unfolds like a signal sent from a dark, concrete fuelled future. With ultra-filtered hi-hats slicing through a sea of warped arpeggios and fragmented bass, the track pulls the listener into an oppressive, sweat-soaked underworld. The echoes of a long-forgotten queen, Elisiv of Kiev, reverberate through the synths as the track morphs into an all-consuming ritual - twisting, morphing and spiralling through snare-less breakbeats and dissonant bass.

This various artists compilation is the 10th release on our label, and we imagined it as a celebration of our scene’s diversity, a unifying mix that draws links between scenes, cities, and sensibilities.

This genre-blending selection, that stays true to Dürüm Records’ adventurous identity, in which deep textures weave connections between each track, serves up a tasty mix of downtempo hybrids, progressive flights, club-oriented sounds, and broken rhythms.

CCL launches their subglow label with Rebuild, an EP from Bristol club provocateur @georg-i, featuring remixes from Metrist and the elusive B. McQueen.

After years of lighting up the dance floor at subglow and serving as a cornerstone in club sets, Rebuild is finally getting an official release to the public. georg-i’s previous releases on Perko’s FELT and aya & BFTT’s YCO imprints have established him as an incendiary club constructor probing the fringes of contemporary dance music. The release will be accompanied by poetry from subglow co-conspirator and artist Nadia Marcus, co-founder of Berlin experimental publishing platform TABLOID Press.

Informed by the restlessness of living in an apocalyptic present and the desire to rebuild the broken systems surrounding us, Rebuild is influenced by math rock's feverish and cataclysmic energy, eschewing conventional club BPMs in favour of dizzying tempo trickery and polymetric wizardry. “Torn In Two” gets off to a slow, chugging start, with raucous synths riffing over emphatic drums, but soon swirls into a juddering, pointillistic frenzy. “Bridging The Gap” is a cathartic shout, an acidic crescendo whose triplet meter offers tempo-transitioning opportunities for adventurous DJs who don’t mind a bit of maths. “Communication” gallops along cathartically through ricocheting synths and drums, unfolding into a thrilling breakdown. On remix duties, B. McQueen re-imagines “Torn In Two” as a sultry, dubbed-out roller, charting groove across a heady plain, while Metrist’s ambitious rework of “Communication” amps up the tension and primes it for a peak-time dancefloor sometime in the next millennium.
