For our next arch podcast, veteran Berlin after-hour selector, sonic experimenter, and contemporary artist Ekaterina Burlyga created a heady sound collage. Think gluey organic textures, fragments of voice, pitched-down dub, broken beats, and future-bass.

A devoted vinyl hoarder with an obscene library of 90s techno, electronica, and drone 12”s lining the walls of her studio, the burgeoning sound artist weaves an eclectic range together in this dubbed-out, synaesthetic mix.

Ekaterina Burlyga - arch 0.8 selections

Kev Sheridan takes to the decks for our ninth podcast with a vinyl-only mix taking in some of his favourite records from ‘outside the box.’ The Irish artist constructs a quirky world of touching beatless moments, pensive sadness and techno-spherical, looping electronica. 

There are beautiful contrasts to behold: from the woozy pitching piano of the opening track, television samples, cerebral electronics, spoken word, heart-breaking pads and plenty of glacier-cooI IDM are all here, to be found and adored.

Kev Sheridan - arch 0.9 selections

Lily Ackerman’s mix for arch guides the listener through a wide range of human emotions, starting with a quiet and pleasantly naive intro before a dark and dramatic mid-section takes hold. Relief arrives with a fantasy journey through a jungle-like natural landscape, evoking an extravagant and euphoric state. 

The mix concludes with the calming sounds of everyday human life and nature, in the form of three field recordings, from places that hold meaning to Lily: Berlin, her current home, Vietnam, where her mother was born, and San Francisco, the last American city she lived in.

Exploring every avenue of electronic dub, hazy catacombs of smoked-out ambience and summery IDM, Inverted Audio founder Antepop delivers our next arch podcast. In his own words, “this vinyl mix marks my first recorded mix in 8 months, my Technics had been in storage for way too long, but with an invite to record an ambient mix for arch and some recent new additions to my collection, I had to get them dusted off and spinning again.”

The British selector recorded the mix in a conservatory surrounded by plants in the heart of rural England. “I dug out some of the finest ambient and downtempo records in my collection and put them together with a lone listener in mind. This is not for the dancefloor, it's to let the mind wander. I hope you enjoy listening to it.”

Currently splitting his time between Nairobi and Berlin, Bush of Ghosts is the alter-ego of UK-born David Tinning. The Santuri East Africa co-founder and long-time Cashmere Radio host shows off his eclectic and expansive collection of glistening electro-acoustic music from around the globe. Spanning decades, continents and micro-scenes, with a distinct focus on polyrhythmic percussion and tumbling time-signatures, we are delighted to welcome him to the series.

In David’s own words, “…this mix was a real pleasure to put together - it contains some of the pieces I play on my Bush of Ghosts show on Cashmere Radio, when I’m feeling more of the meditative / beatless vibes. With a rich catalogue of everything from non-conformist hypnotising techno, to blissful ambience and bass-heavy electronics as Body Portals, the Berlin-based artist has been a member of the arch family from the very beginning.

Respected underground mainstay Irakli, the Georgian-born, Berlin-residing creator of the Intergalactic Research Institute for Sound label, provides the next selection for arch: edition X.9.

Known for his vivacious brand of electronics ranging from sci-fi infected idm and ambient, to morphing contemporary techno, the busy artist recorded a spacial, textural mix exploring the melodic end of the drone spectrum, juxtaposing vintage electronica bleeps with ultra-modern experimental transmissions.
