Soulfooled, lovingly curated since its inception in 2010 by the outstanding German producer & DJ, Alex Niggemann, has steadily established itself as a crucial platform for fresh talent. The label’s focus is always on sonic innovation and search- ing out unfailingly original musical gems, and, in the process, developing its own distinctive brand of music.
Alex Niggemann’s impressive A&R skills were once again highlighted when Dresden’s enigmatic Felkon, released his excellent, mind-bending debut track (“Creixell”) on last sum- mer’s “Soulfooled Cribs Vol.2 EP” (the second instalment of the exciting format that brings the ever-evolving Soulfooled family together). The resulting furore has now led to Felkon returning with a trio of absolutely stunning creations for his “Cry Wolf” EP.
The pulsating, infectiously percussive “Cry Wolf” opens pro- ceedings, layered with super-seductive ebbing and  owing melodic waves, and building towards a plateau of beauti- fully subtle, scarily spooky energy. Meanwhile, the equally engrossing “Eos” has its own distinct identity, pirouetting majestically around another masterclass of subtle, melodic, rhythmic beauty.
“Selene” expands the theme of melody within rhythm even further, with its gorgeous, heart-melting motifs. A wonderful hint of melancholic re ection, serves to create an atmosphere for the track that renders it in one’s subconscious way after its  nal notes have faded from the speakers.
As a teenager Felkon got his  rst experience of being on stage with “Die Pilger”, a fun punk band from his hometown of Dresden, Germany. After the band broke up in 2010, he took his  rst steps into the world of producing electronic music, a process that has evolved to now also playing live sets and DJ sets throughout Europe. Having previously released the “Sunset Stories EP” (Blossom Kollektiv) and the aforementioned “Creixell” (Soulfooled), his new “Cry Wolf” will surely mark Felkon out as major new talent to watch
out for throughout 2016 and beyond, proving what a great discovery he is.
With an ever-growing family of superb artists in their “crib” and stunning releases like this on the agenda, Soulfooled continues to grow into one of the  nest labels around.


Felkon - Cry Wolf

Clear and stompy, that’s how Pauke Schaumburg’s “Hubble“ is starting. The elements not rushing in, a lot of time to discover that refreshing sound, which is getting a big floor anthem. The second track “Exchange“ is much more melodic from the beginning and it is sending some sunbeams through the clouds in April. At least “Violett feat Sebastian Baumert“ is really intense and trippy. A track full of pleasant sounds, with a great break and a rarely but present used vocal on it. “Runnin’ out of time“ - it is possible with this excellent release by Pauke Schaumburg.

Catalogue Number PP018 has been work in progress for quite a while now. Wind-s originally appeared in a slightly different version as part of the soundtrack to one of Rohtheaters` plays. The track features all the typical Obalski elements we have grown so fond of in the past. Dreamy pads and odd melodies create the sort of ambient that carries you away somewhere else (Bravo!). We decided that it would be interesting to hear other artists take their turn on the material. The Japanese duo Mascaras (Chida & 5ive) transformed Wind-s in an atmospheric drum workout. Fantastically incorporating the breezy synth elements of the original into their flow of percussion. Press play – Lift off. The B-Side gives space to Nick Höppner‘s epic Techno groove. Ecstasy – evolving – progress.

Having just joined Ostgut bookings, Somewhen is part of Berlin’s new techno generation, which continues to elaborate on the genres’ principal topics by adapting their meanings to a post-modern context. Futurism and nostalgia: two traditional techno themes purposely coming together within the very name of the producer, DJ and label owner: Somewhen describes this uncertain time in the vague future (whenever) as well as the confidence that eventually (sometime) one’s own dreams can be achieved.

Rich of the same sense for low-slung analogue house jams, Chris & Chris' acid-drenched roller 'Nightmare' lets loose with a menacing vibe, 303 lines swashing relentlessly whilst metallic hi-hats tinkle like pans and pots.
