Several months ago my dear friend Kevin (Exolinguist) asked me to DJ at his next Microrave event on Dia de los Muertos weekend November 1-2. Our November Live at Glass Hill show was scheduled for that same day, but it was an afternoon show and I didn’t want to miss out on an opportunity to hang with the tribe, so after packing up after Glass Hill I drove 4 hours just in time to drop this fresh batch of unapologetic Zenonesque gems as the waxing gibbous moon was reaching its peak over the DJ booth and the clocks fell back an hour. Never mind that in the interim Grand Park had added a closing event for our Die de los Muertos program and I had to be back in LA by 7am for load-in 🫠😝 Staying up for 45 hours straight is not an experience to make a habit of, but it certainly made for an epic adventure and I lived to tell the tale! I am beyond grateful to Kevin and the Microrave fam for the opportunity 🫶

One of the founding members or Simpler Times Events in San Diego, Psilovybe has been DJing and producing events since 2011.   He is known for his dark psychedelic sets, playing techno, progressive, psytrance and now drum and bass. While usually being spotted turning up dust in the Mojave desert, he has also been seen playing tunes as far north as Mount Shasta and east in Las Vegas. Early this year, Psilovybe was added as a resident DJ for the Desert Escape crew. With a wide range of sounds, he is prepared to bring the weirdness at any hour!

The underground flame of inspiration from B-Boys and B-Girls during this Era was shaped by the DJ's and MC's of the time.  It is a cultural phenomenon that has been idolized in feature films such as Breakin' from 1984.  Join me on this journey as we revisit those old-school sounds and samples in a whole new way!
