From France comes Fabrizio Rat with a 4-track EP constructed entirely from acoustic piano and drum machine. Mr. Rat's unique sound design blew our ears away, particularly at a time when so much techno is more reliant on following a blueprint rather than trying to push the frontiers of what is possible, which to us was always the true raison d'être of techno.

One of the most interesting acts that's released regularly via трип​ though is PTU, a duo comprising of the USSR-born Alina Izolenta and Kamil Ea. 'A Broken Clock Is Right Twice A Day' is their latest EP and the seven-track odyssey touches upon all aspects of their production set.

We've got the first play of 'Yes', a high-octane, frantic techno jam, one that twists and turns like a demonic runaway train. It's intense and should be approached with caution, but also one that typifies just how diverse and bold трип​ is as a record label.

Premiere: PTU 'Yes'

"A Broken Clock Is Right Twice A Day" EP is comprised of 7 tracks recorded in Kazan and Moscow during various sessions. Some of them go back as early as 2014 and everything is composed on two 8-track samplers. 

Alina Izolenta and Kamil Ea were born in the USSR, so the origin of the acronym PTU is embedded in everyday life of a country which no longer exists. The duo spent their childhood in Siberia and on Volga, and their salad days in music schools and early clubs of their respective home cities. 

Back then accessing the internet was only possible via pre-paid cards that came in envelopes. Music — via pirate CDs and endlessly slow mp3 downloads. Friendships would stem from copying music from hard drive to hard drive. The name PTU came to life in the middle of 00s, in a rented apartment, literally the last building in some steet on the outskirts, over impromptu synth sessions with friends.

Following three Eps and one LP Fabrizio Rat releases his second solo album on ODD/EVEN , German label by Andre Kronert. The album is conceived entirely for the dancefloor, with no rest and no breathe, no ambient or >quiet< tracks. Melodies emerge at times, resulting from original orchestrations of piano and machines. At other times more violent and static textures explore the extreme repetitions of piano harmonics, combined with slowly evolving filter-sweeping hypnosis.
