Our debut project has arrived; a CD with contributions from L'Uzure, Production Unit Xero, Solatz, Ena, gi, Matter, Dina Rocaille, and Khimeîra. 

This curated primer presents raspy layered textures, windy tonal ephemera, and rapturous melodic outbursts to demarcate “outsider” electronic music as the label’s clear focus. Not intended as a collection of songs but as a singular listen, the CD is pockmarked by dirty sediment, subdued motifs and abstracted musical strucutres - avoiding neat or direct story-telling. Instead, nauseating polyrhythms stretch together a wide pastiche of styles; abstract ideas repeat themselves into shape; and far-reaching horizons converge into a hazy, electric cloud of energy. 

Despite broad influences and stylistic impressions, the music remains cyclic - always coming back to a shared cadence, an overlapping feeling that's urgent and tense but never overstating the obvious.

Hypnagogia is thought to be the transitional state from wakefulness to sleep.At that state of consciousness, thought processes tend to differ radically from those of ordinary wakefulness and hallucinations can be experienced.

A feature that hypnagogia shares with other stages of sleep is amnesia. But this is a selective forgetfulness, affecting the hippocambal memory system, which is responsible for episodic memory,rather than the neocortical memory system, responsible for semantic memory.

This memory system is our knowledge base about the world, independent of personal experiences.Furthermore,it allows us to understand language, recognize objects, and make sense of our surroundings. 

PS. This mix is a surrealist attempt to approach the incoherent simplicity.

a small snippet of a live performance by the Intonarumori Trio at the opening of When The Fog Clears as part of The Ten Days On The Island Festival. This was the exhibition where i got to exhibit Caligo Paean, so a big evening for me......more about the trio here

Formed in 2018, The Intonarumori Trio is Danielle Kirby, Mat Ward and Dylan Banks. All three are Hobart based artists whose individual professional practices all span 20 plus years. They have diverse artistic backgrounds that include painting, instrument and theatre design, installation, classical music, noise- art, graphic design and academic research. They have all exhibited, published and performed extensively across Australia as well as undertaken international art-based residencies.  

The trio explore the more occult-centric aspects of Russolo’s practice, approaching performances as a ritualistic space to play with the idea of connection and communication beyond the human realm. 

Russolo believed, and pursued the idea that noise could be used as a bridge to spiritual understanding. He sought to congure and transform energy through the Intonarumori’s ability to ‘spiritualise’ noise. 

Performances by the Trio are pure improvisation, allowing the space and the air to guide the players. The clips are from various performances and studio sessions 2018 - 2025
