This set of music was recorded at a house party on Halloween night, 1982, in Phoenix Arizona.  It is the first time for this group to play "publicly".  It is also my first live performance in the first organized band I was in.  The band consisted of the amazing Tim France on drums and lead vocals; Tim Collins on guitar and vocals; Larry Bryant on bass and me on Guitar.   We put this list of music together in about 6 weeks having formed the band in September.  

The tracks were culled from the original cassette tape obviously recorded that night almost 31 years ago as of this writing.  I have been concerned for a while the tape might degrade and I would lose this snapshot.  The audio quality is, finally, very much improved as well, now that I have the equipment/software to apply.  Took that long :-/  Things start sounding pretty good around "Lonely Is The Night".  Amps have been turned up, everyone has had a couple of beers, nerves have settled and the party is getting rolling.  

Just a note: During "867-5309" the several 500 W stage lights,  we were trying to run on house outlets took down the power and we not so gracefully recovered once somebody reset the breaker.  The song ends abruptly for the same reason.  (No low power lighting in those days - it's all about atmosphere man).  We moved a couple of lights to another outlet between songs and had no more problems...yay-hoo.

We played our first official paying gig at a bar on the West side of Phoenix (51st Ave and Indian School) called "Arnolds 2X4" - no lie :-0 - it was transitioning back from a titty bar to a band bar lol (it went back and forth at the whim of the owner, Arnold), on Dec 31st. 1982.  We played many Wed - Sat  9pm - 1 am weeks there during the next year.  Sometimes opening for just the bartender and waitress promptly at 9 pm (usually Wednesday) and sometimes it was wall to wall (usually on the weekends).  This bar actually had two bars - the one we played in was only open Wed - Sat, so we were able to stay set up and practice in there on Monday and Tuesday.  The beer was free and it was a nice big room.  Those were the days :-) 

A consumer audio cassette deck with two condenser microphones of unknown mfg. hanging from the ceiling over the band in the small-ish living room where we were playing in was used to capture the recording.  I imported the tracks into Pro Tools through a Black Lion Audio Sparrow MKII ADC and applied mastering plugins to improve the sound.  The bass guitar is almost not audible on the cassette.  The processor chain is: 670 on mix bus; then in the IKMultimedia TrackS-CS plug-in: linear phase EQ, Quad band stereo imager, Opto-compressor; Quad band compressor, another 670, a little reverb, fEQP-1A; De-Esser; Brickwall Limiter.

This project is intended to archive and preserve this event for me and the other band members.  No infringement on the original artist work is intended or implied.  This music is not for sale or use by anyone.   This is obviously all cover material with one exception, "Change In My Heart" written by Tim Collins...no rights to any other music in this set is made by me or anyone in the band.  That said, enjoy a flash back to the Early Eighty's.
