surrounded by a deep spectrum of musical genres in his upbringing, flord king has had a musical training from the start. both as a listener and as a player, handling the guitar in different jazz ensembles.

later on elliot, which is his first name, took a step from musical path in his family to djing. in the early days he and his bestie and dj pal adam strömstedt started throwing their own outdoor parties called röd ballong. they always shared their tracks with the stockholms rave crew until the cops eventually found their way into the woods to shut down the parties.

by the time the police had shut down almost every underground party in stockholm, the clubs in town had to step in and provide the ravers. elliot started playing at clubs such as berns, f12 and under bron - where he later on became a resident.

sharing the love for showing each other tracks since the early days, it was natural for elliot and adam to start a label. together with mohammed al harbiti they started their own imprint ’lyssna records’. since ’lyssna’ means ’listen’ in swedish, it’s the perfect sum up of how you’re hanging out and sharing music with your friends.

when elliot started producing music back in 2015, he slowly moved towards taking on his birth name again: flord king. with the first two releases on his label lyssna in 2016, where one of them contained the contemporary classic ’dapper’, flord king and his sound was born. this year lyssna came with flords first own release: klassisk ep!

Cassy makes a welcomed return to her Kwench Records imprint with sensuous House EP; A Place For Us.

A Place For Us sits between a remix for Italo Johnson alongside Bambounou, and a track on the upcoming 20 Years of fabric compilation. Full of inspiration after a summer of hosting her Play House parties at Pacha Ibiza where Cassy strived to emulate a hedonistic and relaxed 90s New York vibe, she continues in the same vein with this release.

“It was always a dream of mine to make House tracks in the way I’ve heard them all these years, but I never quite felt I was developed enough as an artist. It’s a certain vibe you need to channel, and now it feels right. I was always experimenting with trippy Techno sounds, and Techno is so fulfilling when you are dancing to it for hours, it’s music you can lose yourself too. House is a feeling, and it’s helped bring the best out of my voice. I’m enjoying going there! I’m channelling everything from Lisa Stansfield to Master’s At Work, Naked Music, Todd Edwards, just to mention a few. All the elements I like together.”

Kicking off with the title track A Place For Us Cassy uses her vocal this time to spread a message, and take from it what you will “It’s an extremely important time for us to come together right now, I felt drawn to vocalise this.” The One is dreamy yet propulsive, with Cassy’s vocals subtly complimenting the beat.
