A reworking of the set that I played at the ZNA Gathering in Portugal on August 4, 2015. The overall flow is basically the same, though there are 3 tracks that I didn't include because they are very rare and unreleased (by X-Dream, Graham Wood, and Hallucinogen), and in two cases here I used the commercially available versions of mixes when I'd played alternate unreleased mixes at the party (Green Nuns 'Conflict' and TIP's remix of KoxBox's 'Too Pure'). I also shifted the order of two tracks as with the current flow the transitions made more sense this way...  Still very much the same story, with just a few variations!

From a young age, AudioFire has been connected to music, he knew after his first clubbing experience in Bar Do-Me, Cape Town, that being part of the dance music scene was his future. With the 90’s underground scene taking off in South Africa, AudioFire, DJ'd at well established clubs around Cape Town, such as Delight, Nexus, G-spot and The Funktion. The vibe was fresh and left an everlasting impression.

Gaining his first experiences as a club DJ in his hometown, he knew that to develop himself further and take on bigger challenges he would need to go where the music was truly cutting edge, London. It is here that he moved through various genres and grew his network of friends and fans, performing at venues such as, Scala, Mass, Camden Palace, Rocket Club to name a few and held down residencies at the Viaduct in Vauxhall and a small but always packed club in London Bridge.

Not content with settling down just to DJ he decided to take things to the next level and focussed on learning music production at the prestigious Point Blank music academy. After a two year intensive course focused on sound design, composition, engineering, production and the art of mixing, he graduated with a diploma and since then he has been working tirelessly composing tracks, remixes and collaborating with a wide array of artists shaping his characteristic sound. His first two releases featured on an album for Deckajam (an electronica band from UK rave scene and household name Kevin Energy) and his original track "All of the lights" was remixed by the very talented Michael Stonebank Monstercat, A.K.A. Rocket Pimp. Other remixes include, 'Serena Ryder - Stompa' and 'Tibby Young - Dance to the beat'.

Fast forward 20 years to Origin festival, South Africa 2015. As a personal guest of global trance legend Sonic Species, it was here where he fell in love with the PSY Trance scene, from the promoters to the artists, the people and of course the music, he now dedicates his time to writing and producing trance and has created the act we all now know as AudioFire.

Iono Music series continues with a conversation with Protonica which will be followed by and excluisve mix.

Protonica are Piet Kaempfer and Ralf Dietze from Berlin (Germany). With Piet’s intuition for harmonies as a skilled pianist and certified sound designer Ralf’s feeling for propulsive grooves, Protonica deliver you their very own positive pulsing sound – a blend of psychedelic and progressive trance. The “Refresh / Northern Storm EP” from 2010 was certainly an important milestone and the breakthrough for the duo. In 2012 Protonica releases the second album “Form Follows Function” another masterpiece after their debut album “Search” from 2007.

No space is an empty space. Enter the void and you will discover a magical field of energy between the molecules, frequencies and tunes. This temporary autonomous zone contains electromagnetic waves which merge into your tissues and slowly start making a sonic experience that you have never experienced before. This audio sensation vibrates in the rhythm of your breath, and turns your body into a Zero Point Field.

This soundscape is created by Atomizers, aka Ivan Filipe and Daniel Bernardo from Portugal. With their multiple aliases - Ivan with Techyon, Ankh and Yestermorrow, and Daniel with Menog and Skyfall – They bring a long play piece which showcases their storytelling and electromagnetic sound waves capacities. Filling the particles with Mindfullness, they manage to create a perfect atmosphere of Zero Point Field. This Trance State is transforming all the previous patterns and move beyond the Observer Effect into a situation whereby all the senses are activated. The Key to have full integration, as Zyce and Sad Paradise will show, is to be in Silence and inhale your surroundings. Then, the Cycles of Life start to spin sporadically with different tempos and intensities. You do not need to check whether you entered a Virtual Reality, because you have already went far into the rabbit hole. And deep inside you do not want to get out of it.

Atomizers - Zero Point Field - Album Minimix Promo

Another recently discovered (cheers Jazz!) recording of one of my sets from Glastonbury 98 on the Space stage in the Green Futures field. 

I was lucky enough to DJ several times on this stage over the weekend (which explains why a couple of tracks in this set are also featured in my other Glastonbury mix which is also posted here). It was a very wet and muddy one but that didn't matter, we had a packed tent all night, every night. Blinding weekend :)

The chaos caused by the torrential rain and ensuing mud made it a real challenge for anyone just to get to our stage but despite the weather it was rammed all weekend with acts such as Man With No Name, System 7 & Michael Dog completely rocking the dance floor.

Budamunk is the green that crafts highly addictive beats which become the foundation for the buttery live instrumentations of mabanua, drummer for Ovall. In the last decade Berlin became a magnetic force of culture. With an enormous appeal to artists from all areas of expertise including music, design, architecture, theatre, dance and everything that helps the evolution of imagination and creativity. Like many other labels, Iono Music was born in order to give its founder, Cubixx aka Matthias Sperlich, the freedom he needed to release his first creation as Koaxkaos – "Evolutyon". After he met Murus in 2003 at a Psytrance festival, they started working together for several years, and so Iono Music was established in 2005. Unlike many other labels, which are affected by fashion, hype and commercial factors, Iono Music has been motivated by the radiation that the music transmits and the way the body reacts to it. If the music changes the molecules and atoms into ion then it means it has been ionized*. The Ionization process can only be fully successful if your music is high quality Electronic music. Matthias Sperlich was born in 1977 in Berlin, Germany. He has over 15 years of experience behind the decks and has a long time love affair with electronic music. He works as a professional VFX artist for cinema and TV, which allows him to pursue his passion and vision of extraordinary music, while being guided by his perfectionist's standards. Since the beginning Cubixx knew that Iono Music could succeed only if he chooses each artist with extra care, examining every aspect to see if they belong in the Iono family. Thus all the artists and dj's you see in our website were picked one by one, after proving to be not only excellent artists but also great people.
