Chris Bryant (S1gns Of Life) created ten presets for the free Vital soft synth during a live stream to celebrate reaching a 1000 subscribers milestone on YouTube

Head In The Clouds was created using all ten of those presets, in one way or another but is in no way shape or form a showcase for them

all of the presets were used as supplied and the only other tweaks were done using EQ and some sounds were passed to a separate track with Adaptiverb on it

the first six minutes is pure drone

the following three minutes thirty seconds (approx) is a bit more "driven" in order to make use of the more percussive sounds, including a sort of bass line

the last thirty seconds finishes off with a drone

have to admit, I rarely do compositions like this, so it is what it is...

Ion Stream is the recording alias of Chris Thomson-Drew, an ambient/electronic musician, composer and sound designer from the UK. Ion Stream was created to explore ethereal space soundscapes, combining his video-game-soundtrack and ambient influences.

He is a classically trained pianist from an early age as well as a guitarist, performing in many rock bands in his youth. After a long musical hiatus, Ion Stream was created as a way to bring music creation back into his life, using influences from his childhood and teenage years playing sci-fi video games. 

Inspirations stem from stellar artists such as Carbon Based Lifeforms, Tangerine Dream, Michael McCann,  Solar Fields & State Azure. A love of sci-fi video games, the likes of Mass Effect and Deus Ex are huge inspirations, fuelling the initial spark delve into the world of electronic music production in the first instance.
