Composé dans une période (actuelle) où je passe des nuits extrêmement compliquées, j'avais besoin d'extérioriser. Comme souvent dans ce genre de période, les notes sortent rapidement, c'est ouf. Ca parait cliché mais c'est vraiment ça pourtant. Je pense que la musique est la chose avec laquelle je m'exprime le mieux.

"The song is about the very real mental struggles that everyone goes through in their life. Sometimes life throws a curve-ball, and you find yourself isolated from your support system, friends, and family. When that happens, we put up an appearance that everything is fine, but in reality we are faced with our greatest enemy; the destructiveness of our own ego. That internal dialogue is often a loop that we can't break out of. "No one's ever going to tell you no. No one's ever going to say it's over. No one's ever going to tell you when it's time to let go". "Try to Pretend" exposes this farce that is all too common in our modern image-driven society.”

 

NØLL's emotive approach to music is admirable and evidently translated into every song; each telling a story not just through words, but also through atmosphere, sounds and captivating visual design. It’s no wonder the songs are so impactful when his approach is focused wholeheartedly on the artistic journey, rather than the end goal. ‘Try to Pretend’ is that very journey.

Stay and Decay is about staying on your path so you can reach your full potential. I set the scene in a surreal forest with things like red doors & white horses trying to distract you, throwing you off your path. If you let the distractions consume you, you'll never move on to "Nirvana, Shangri-La, or Valhalla". I was inspired to write this song because I am constantly reminding myself to stay on my path, the amount of content I put out is very demanding, but I know it will all be worth it (:
