Dropa’s style would best be described as a mix of chillwave, indietronic and darkwave. The duo out of Portland Oregon have just finished their third release “The Hours till Daylight”  A double album which originated from Micah doing the soundtrack for an indie film by Jon Garcia, and is due out  this next year. THTD is The follow up from their 2nd release Glass House which received much critical praise. Dropa’s first CD “A Well Orchestrated Plan” has a thick array of synths and layered beats with a more shoegaze experimental sound. With Glass House, Dropa has evolved their sound into a more directed, structural, intentional approach. Meticulously crafting eclectic arrangements bringing a retro vibe melded with modern influences. Sound comparisons to David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Radiohead, M83, Dropa mixes and blends a plethora of electronic genres, which makes it difficult for the listener to categorize. Playing many shows and festivals in Portland the past few years including shows at Doug Fir, Crystal Ballroom, Alberta Street Fair and the Rose Festival, Dropa has been keeping busy between recording and performing.  KINK FM featured two tracks off of their debut album “A well orchestrated plan” released in 2009, OPB Radio, 94.7 KNRK and KZME 107.1 are also airing their tracks.

           Dropa is the brainchild of Micah Tamblyn who comes from a long line of entertainers and performers.  For Glass House he brought in the talents of drummer Matthew Higgins who has mastered many genre’s including Jazz Latin and rock. Dropa occasionally has players sit in for their live performances which expand the sonic, ethereal experience for the stage. Dropa’s melodies will consume your mind and will leave you dreaming.
