The latest signing on Local Suicide’s imprint Iptamenos Discos is the Greek DJ / producer duo Boys’ Shorts (@boysshorts). They’re delivering their new futuristic EP titled ‘New Era’, which includes remixes from Each Other, Lott & Local Suicide as well as Luca dell’Orso. The duo was founded by Thessaloniki-based artist Vangelis, who runs half of the music blog & label LAGASTA, as well as London-based artist Tareq. With two EPs under their belt ("Looking" and "Together") they also delivered remixes for artists like Kasper Bjorke, Yuksek w/ Polo & Pan, Dharma, Kito Jempere ft. Wolfram to name a few, whilst their remix for Casey Spooner was included in the Red Hot + Free compilation.

“The track was written during the lockdown period when everything looked so uncertain and scary … We were listening to a lot of music from bands as ‘Japan’ and ‘Visage’, talking about the “New Romantics” era, thinking of what will come after this new reality we’re living in. And so “New Era” came as a result of all the relationships that were reconsidered the last two years, to show the importance of human touch and what really actually matters.” - Boys’ Shorts

The track immediately gives off a sense of space exploration due to the sound of the melody being played. While the repetitive bass keeps the track driving as the pads elevate you to a higher level, the drums keep you grooving with delicate knocks and cowbells as the claps work with the cowbells to bring some more energy into the track. There’s a slicing, ‘swoosh’ sound that fills the space of an open-hat which breaks the four bar loop subtly but perfectly. The track's vocals have a wide sound to them that helps simulate the vastness of space.

Organically grown from the game-changing event series garnering showcases and international takeovers from Berlin to Cape Town, Feinstoff has hosted some of the scene’s greats, such as Damon Jee, Terr, Biesmans and Yame. As a revered music platform and a trusted spearhead within Berlin’s electronic music scene, Feinstoff launches its own label.

Well-known for offering a plethora of authenticity, Feinstoff continues to deliver a significant edge on innovative electronic music and disco movements. This ethos is omnipresent in their first release, a collection of remixes for Romanian icon Alexandrina.

Curses' ever-powerful sonic presence and undeniable influence on the scene is felt greater by the day. He delivers a refreshing touch to his remix of ‘Black Magic’, with his signature baritone guitar and defined drums. In his dub version, more driving tension is added, along with a faster pace. Curses delivers yet another two gems dripping in his unmistakable arcane romanticism.

Greco—German powerhouse Local Suicide and Slow Motion Records affiliate Radondo join forces on their ethereal remix of ‘Animal Power’. Alexandria's vocals weave between twinkling arps and an ominous call and response between synthesized vocals. We’re transported to the dimly lit realms of their respective tastes.

Feinstoff label head Freudenthal snaps ‘Sirin’ into action with a euphoric reimagining of the original. Soaked in Feinstoff’s contemporary Nostalgia and subtle nods to post-punk, Freudenthal readies the remix for the Summer. The remixes all carry the thread of Feinstoff’s abundance of arpeggiated dance-floor magic.

Bucharest’s Walentin Pauer provides a melodic flip of ‘Sirin' with flashes of Electro and an almost C78-style drum pattern. With cosmic-style FX and washed-out hi-hats, we are led to a powerful dark wave payoff.

Borusiade transforms ‘Animal Power’ into an emotive, cinematic soundscape riding a gently oscillating arp, which builds to the wails and cries of Alexandrina’s climatic vocals from the original.

Rounding off the remix EP with conclusive flair is Mathmatrix’s mix for ‘Magnetic Eyes', a cathartic, anthemic piece weaving through flashes of alt-pop. The vocals sit beautifully within the mix's crushed edges, resulting in a breathtaking meeting of visions.

With a mantra to give Nostalgia a modern twist and provide an ever-effective launch pad for artists to expand their horizons, Feinstoff’s first release sets a strong tone for future releases and solidifies this vision.

Never have we been living more in a culture of self gratification, 'Me Me Me' sums up the society we live in, increasingly dominated by right wing governments vying for control of dwindling natural resources, voted in by increasingly angry people, frustrated by a lack of progress. 
Newcastle's favourite Mexican import Man Power's imprint beautifully bucks the trend with a compilation called  We We We (See what he did there!?)
Featuring 25 tracks which make up a charity compilation to support the 'Help Refugees' charity, with contributions from Bird of Paradise, Juan Maclean, Pional & Shit Robot among others, this could be the best charitable donation you ever make.
It is Club Tularosa's Venturism which gets an airing here. A track which would not sound out of place at the Garage or even Studio 54.
Percussive chimes tiptoe over a rolling disco beat before a live bass muscles in and compels you to move in ways you wouldn't normally be comfortable moving in. Angelic voices, claps and toms channel that urge to shake the hips but when the acid line in the second half kicks in, go on, have a dance, buck the trend and give a little, give a lot. It's for a good cause!
