A couple of choruses attempting continuous 8th-note improvising on Just Friends.  Guitar is an Ibanez AS93 semi-hollow, direct out from a DV Little Jazz amp.

Just Friends (8th-note exercise)

This is a song written about unrequited love back when I was feeling it around '83. I recorded it on Tascam cassette 4 track using a Strat and a borrowed fretless bass. I wrote a poem that went along with it.  Lost but I remember the first and last lines. "Like a skiff setting sail in Cambodia . . . "  and the last line "This doe runs free." Explains the end.

We recorded this yesterday (10-27-25). Just a rehearsal. I'm dedicating this to Jack DeJohnette who had just passed the day before. Joe Gilman on piano, Jacam Manricks sax, Ben Kopf bass and Rick Lotter on drums, filling in for Cameron. The first time the band recorded this song.
