Dennis became a functional songwriter and a Producer. He has been fortunate to work with top producers like Quincy Jones of Q Productions and David Jones who was a former producer of Motown Records. Dennis has created platforms for numerous gospel artists such as The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Gospel Keynotes, Billy Paul, John P. Kee, Luther Barnes, Ben Tankard and Darryl Coley. His first recording was R&B at Mega Sound Studio in Bailey, NC. In no time he was involved with Cloudbourne Studio in Detroit, MI. The turning point for Dennis came in 1985 when he was casted alongside Oprah Winfrey and Whoopi Goldberg as a guitar player in the movie “The Color Purple”.
 In 1997 Dennis had the pleasure of appearing in the movie "Eddie", starring Whoopi Goldberg, and recorded at Secret Sounds in New York. Not until the following year did he release his first CD entitled "Sinnerman". The CD had a massive sale as it was a regular hit on local radio stations.
In 2003, Dennis wrote and produced the song entitled "Something For Everybody", which was performed by Dennis Garner & One Accord. The CD had another massive sale and received airplay across the USA under the Shower down Production Label.  In 2007 He dedicated a solo project entitled "Can't Make It Without You" to his deceased mother. On this CD, Dennis showed how versatile He is by singing all the lead and backgrounds vocals and played every instrument throughout the CD under the Shower down Production Label. Dennis was also a part of the "Tribute to the Troops" tour team in 2007, which took him all around the United States.
Even though life hasn’t slowed down so much for Dennis, He still splits his time between his music and his family. He spends his leisure time fishing. Dennis is a believer and the exact example of what the scripture says in Proverbs 18:16. "A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men".
2015 is a year of new music for Dennis who is releasing a new single "Never Let You Go" featuring Truman Comer.
