Loose Records is proud to welcome Italian DJ, remixer, and producer Irregular Synth to our label. His work concentrates on music club goers can party to, such as with his Rum & Drum EP, which features a remix by Christian Cambas of his single Rum & Drum.Rum & Drum is a contagious track that will please any club goer, especially those who love strong beats and drums. It starts with percussion and bass run through a remixer. Circular sounds soon fuse with the original beat before Irregular Synth experiments with a variety of synthesized instruments. This versatile anthem would be ideal for any large festival or nightclub. It could also appeal to many filmmakers for soundtrack.Rum & Drum (Christian Cambas Remix) is a little spookier than its original track. Playing with symbols to create a circular sound, Christian Cambas toys with muted audio tracks and synthesizers to add distortion. The intensity of the song hits its peak after clear human vocals are used, commanding the attention of the listener. With samples from hip hop artists, this song would be an especially great fit for dance clubs and radio. Techno Room begins with a throbbing bass. The percussion picks up with almost a wood-block sound. Soon, a synthesizer is used to complement the drum track, increasing in speed and volume. With its ¾ time, the listener gets the sensation of being on a train, its groove putting the listener into a relaxed, trancelike state. This track would be a treat for underground clubs and DJs looking for powerful material to remix.

Irregular Synth - White Eyes (Original Mix) [Dirty Minds]

Saline is the third installment in a series of records from Ultramajic boss Jimmy Edgar. While the first part, Hot Inside, represented the element of fire, and its follow-up release, Mercurio, symbolized water, Saline is aligned with earth. It's no accident that the name refers specifically to the earthly compound salt, as desalination is an integral metaphysical process that helps to hone the third eye.

The EP rises from the ashes of Hot Inside and Mercurio with "Burn," a blazing acid-tinged banger that boats dry drums and a strangled wail. The reference to fire in the title suggests the evolution of Edgar's series of singles, while the name of the track "Decalcify" invokes a process closely related to desalination, as both play a role in making the body more attuned to supernatural experiences. Ultramajic's Chicago house influence enticed legendary footwork producer DJ Rashad, who's voice can be heard in the sampled squawk on metallic tune "Walk Show." The final track "Who's Watchin," features Jimmy's own vocal, coy bleep-bloop instrumentation and hissing hi-hats. Taken as a whole, Saline and the other releases in Jimmy's series of dance singles are designed to instigate the processes they allude to and aid in the path of spiritual development.

Irregular Synth - Lapse For Reason (Original Mix) [Toolroom]

A great philosopher (Samuel Johnson, not Ebeneezer Goode) once wrote… “our brightest blazes of gladness are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks”. While it would be a stretch to suggest the Drumcode artist roster are closet philosophy fans, once one begins to unravel the tale that led to Jel Ford remixing the 2012 Alan Fitzpatrick hit ‘For An Endless Night’ and it is impossible to escape the unexpected enterprise and spirit of surprise that are at the heart of this exciting collaboration. 

As fans of Adam Beyer’s label will testify, the two Drumcode names have more in common than just a label stable, they also share common ground with the peak-time melodic sound that has delivered many of the labels most memorable output. Ford being a much more recent addition than Fitzpatrick, whose history with the seminal Swedish imprint stretches back to 2009, however Ford’s history within techno goes back even further having released multiple EP’s through the early noughties on vintage UK techno labels including Dave Angel’s Rotation Records, Billy Nasty’s Tortured Records, Primate Recordings and Ford’s own Jericho imprint. 

It is within this shared passion for uplifting synths and big room melodies that the ‘unexpected spark’ of creativity that led to Ford remixing Fitzpatrick can be found. An long-time admirer of Fitzpatrick’s work, Ford had developed an idea for his alternative version and secretly worked on the remix long before any discussion of the project had taken place. Once given the draft version, Fitzpatrick immediately endorsed the remix, excited to have an updated version to breath new life into what had become a familiar staple of his sets for the past two years. Parts were swapped and the end result being the barnstorming end-of-night monster presented here. A track that will be familiar with many having been the subject of much social-media furor since it first surfaced back in Autumn 2014.
