The works of Rama Parwata, the Melbourne-based percussionist and sound artist, are intense, intricate, and wholly uncompromising in their approach. From Whitehorse, Kilat, Rinuwat, and co-curation for Make It Up Club, Rama’s work is full of life and self-determination. He’s joined us for an hour of polyrhythms, free jazz, death metal, and Viper. My legs are all muddled, trampling the sky. I can see the ribbons falling out, still streaming.

"Bird Matrix" was made just after Actress finished writing his most recent album Ghettoville. “My studio was going through a transition, so I was testing all the equipment, and that was one of the first tunes that came out of those experiments,” he explains. It’s a fittingly exploratory tune for a mix that balances traditional functionality with dance music’s cutting edge.

they were  astonished by the sudden disappearance of the people from the vineyard, out there in the dark. This was day six after the maiden seance. 

elsewhere in the ever shifting manor, the women walked about like spiders, corsets taut and austere, heads moving like praying mantis. They passed through door frames marked by charcoal. Glyphs and sigils, numbers, rudimentary faces as if drawn by children. 

There were doors that led to balconies overlooking the other frontier. It’s here that the women noticed the graves, that they were all opened and emptied.

Q. How long have you been a part of the NYC music scene?
A. I guess a little over 3 years, I started meeting a lot of people when I started working at Bossa Nova Civic Club in December 2017

Q. Tell us a little bit about this mix.
A. A collection of textural swells with some moments of broken beats. I cant really tell if it’s a sad mix or an uplifting mix, or both? I guess it depends on who’s listening. I think it might be both.
