The Eclectic Collective -- composition


This song began, as so many of ours do, with JJ coming up with the skeleton of it on his electric piano, organ, and synth during one of his Saturday night jam sessions. He originally laid down a bass line for it, too, which might be better than what Josh came up with, But he was kind enough to let Josh in on it, too, adding his four string fretless bass on top of Ken's intricate, lively drums.

  Once the rhythm section was complete, it was time for Stephen and Tez to add their guitar magic to the mix, too. They both laid down some thrilling guitar lines throughout. Josh lastly added the spooky synth theremin you hear throughout.

  When it was all finished and in the can, we asked Stephen to mix it for us, which he did in a professional manner. He also added the creepy sound effects you hear throughout, as well. 

  This song is an example of how the Eclectic Collective can take a idea from one of us, and make it grow into a monster. Speaking of monsters, we decided to release this a day early to coincide with the holiday. Happy Halloween from The Eclectic Collective! narration: this is not supposed to be a 'beautiful' track:  although much dismayed, you sometimes need lofi skillsets, esp when the skin has worn thin; of course LOFI is also an anagram of FOIL  - those two go together (although this voice is single and as detached as distorted by proximity, it responds to extremely varied circumstance)

This song began its life all the way over in on the other side of the pond, where our frequent collaborator, Artur wrote it on his electric guitar. Being a fan of surf music, he composed this awesome piece with The Eclectic Collective in mind. He shared it with the group through Tez, who was first to respond to Artur's guitar with his own, creating a psychedelic base of sound for the rest of us to add to. 

  Ken was up next, laying down his always exciting drums and percussion. Josh, of course, followed straight behind him, now that he had a beat to play to. JJ came soon after, laying in his ethereal organ and dancing electric piano. Last, but not least, Stephen laid in a really trippy acoustic arpeggio based acoustic guitar part to kick it to the next level.

  Of course, every great song needs a great producer. But before we even started the song beyond what Artur and Tez laid down at the beginning, Mark deftly separated Artur's basic beat from the music. Amazing what technology can do these days! For rest of the production, we tapped the very talented Tez to do the honors, which he did perfectly.

  This song marks about half a dozen we've done with Artur. We're all big fans of his unique surf rock sound, and jump at the chance to collaborate with him. If you like what we've done here, you should check out his page, as it's loaded with gems in the same strain. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Waiting For You

So this is the last instalment in the Mayday series. After many travels and learnings,  our astronaut hero grows tired of  roaming space in search of something new.... He longs for  peace and  love and to settle down into a quiet uneventful life .... and so he once again procures another ship and heads for home,  where the grass in green and the skies are blue. This is the last journey he will make... While his exploratory  journey is going to an end,  he returns home a wiser man....  Just like our  space hero... this girl decided to  finally come home from the wanderings into the unknown...  Enjoy :)

Hello Folks, 

Welcome to my humble page! A little about me: Mid 30s  business lady by day, music obsessed creative fiend by night. I do mean OBSESSED….Music lives in my head and can not stop coming out of it! I grew up listening  to  all kinds of music so my  creations have been influenced by live instruments and orchestral melodies marrying the  beat and rhythm of dance music.  Piano - trained and a hobby vocalist of sorts , music is  how I deal with the world.  As of 2024 , embarking on a  journey to learning the guzheng and cello. Some paint some build, some write… This girl tells stories with her music.  Take a pause and listen. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy setting  them loose into the world !
