This audiovisual performance features sound reactive generative visuals built in Touchdesigner.

This sonic journey features binaural textures from Delta to Alpha frequencies & explores the theme of transcending conflict to try and find peace.  The visuals continue to explore audiovisual entrainment and were built using touchdesigner and the tdableton component.

bī-nôr'əl Cinema was conceived in 2020 and released in 2021 as part of Harper’s ongoing art practice development.  This audiovisual exploration delves into the profound question: Can sounds really heal us?

The album challenges conventional norms and gently guides listeners through a journey from Delta to Beta frequencies (1HZ - 30HZ), disrupting the clinical boundaries of Audio-Visual Entrainment (AVE).

Inspired by Harper's transformative journey through Japan, the album captures the intensity and serenity of Japanese city life. The juxtaposition of urban pressure against the peaceful backdrop of temples is intricately woven into the fabric of the album. 

Premiered at the LCB Depot's Lightbox Gallery during the launch of DIGITAL on Dec 3rd, 2021, Harper's AVE set takes you on a sonic voyage. This immersive experience explores the use of light and sound frequencies to guide the mind, delving into the nuanced realms of mood, focus, and cognition. Experimental AVE [Audiovisual Entrainment] Live set At the LCB Depot's Lightbox Gallery, for the launch of DIGITAL - Dec 3rd, 2021

Audio-Visual Entrainment (AVE) uses pulses of light and sound at specific frequencies to gently guide the brain into various brainwave patterns. By altering your brainwave frequencies, it is possible to impact mood, focus, sleep patterns, cognition etc.

This live set is a brief sonic excursion from Delta to Beta frequencies (1HZ - 30HZ) with the aim of investigating what the effects of AVE could be away from its formal (clinical) use and presented in the context of a cultural experience.

Vocals from Leonie DG which I’ve converted to binaural audio.  These range from Delta frequencies ~ 3.5Hz to Alpha frequencies ~ 11Hz.   The visual were built in Touchdesigner and continues my theme of experimental Audio-visual entrainment. (AVE is a subset of brainwave entrainment, uses flashes of lights and pulses of tones to guide the brain into various states of brainwave activity).

The audience members were effectively agreeing to be collectively hypnotised.  Essentially what our government, the mass media etc are already doing to us on a daily basis  - the fundamental difference is that the underlying message shifts from a fear to love.
