For our anniversary mix, #50, we have a lined up a very special one. A live recording from Omformer's live-set under the midnight sun at the mini-festival 'Out of Space' we hosted last year at Træna. A desolate island far north in Norway, five hours away from mainland. The coverpicture is taken from this liveset.

The 1 hour performance really showcases Omformers unique, driving, psychedelic and emotional sound. With this raw live-recording, you truly can feel and hear the live elements.

Mess, is a forward thinking club night with a focus on women, queer and transgender artist from diverse cultural backgrounds, dedicated to the celebration of diversity
Mala Junta is considered one of Berlin’s fiercest underground queer-techno parties, with a focus on inclusivity, a concept which approaches the faster, groovier edges of old school dance music.

In this mix Hyperaktivist provides this high energy tribal energy, with a one hour trip full of both old and modern cuts, blending the realms of old school and contemporary techno and trance music.

Filip Storsveen returns to the Bassiani Podcast following a first stint as half of Omformer, this time as solo act Oprofessionell. The Oslo-based co-founder of rave entente Uteklubb (and constituent imprint UTE.REC) draws a wealth of inspiration from the aesthetic of 90s trance, a fully packaged set of sounds, images and for many of a generation, memories, that enshrine a moment in electronic music with particular resonance today. Cyclical revivals are just that, but there’s something especially felt in the speed-saturated sound that’s taken over not only his native Norway, but neighbouring nordic lands, an acknowledgement of its homegrown forest-rave culture, something parallel to the speed at which the world seems to be tipping into exponential overdrive. Storsveen and collaborators Mikkel Rev and Alpha Tracks are flying that flag high above the parapet. And as a means of escape, it delivers large on warm and fuzzy nostalgia, a method by which the creative spirits of the past are reborn today just when we need them most. From releases on his co-run label to a string of contagious live sets, Oprofessionell’s ambit is widening and the ethos of nordic rave gains ever more traction. Bassiani Podcast 253 is a wink to the past and a plan for the future, a set recorded live at Bassiani, mercurial rhythms that live and breathe the spirit of Oslo and Storsveen’s neo-trance renaissance.

Viennese DJ/Producer Alpha Tracks is best-known as a fleet-footed champion for contemporary neo-trance. Where others to the north of the genre’s beginnings are breathing new life into the musical style, Felix Benedikt holds down the fort in the east, deriving his intrinsic link to its forms from the early millennium record-digging. With releases on imprints like Blue Hour, Ute.Rec., his very own Morbid and newly pressed <AIR WAYS> bristling with scrappy basslines, the shape of his mission is sharp in focus, a revival and reconfiguration of those 90s sounds into something modern and loaded with relevance. Striking parallels with the speed of data in our modern landscape could be made with trance’s newfound acceptance, but for Felix it’s something inherently felt. Logic demands respite, and his palette has changed to suit an equal need for interiority, a slower pace and the psychic realm. Enter Zenaari Mix 017: this latest episode turns down the tempo and strips away the kick of his bellicose basslines for a pure and surrealist patchwork of prophetic sounds.
