"I’ve been really enjoying playing ‘Bloom’ from up and coming Berlin producer Symbolism on PTHM recently. It’s an immersive and rolling techno track with a dark and dub’y atmosphere. You hear a bit of the dub sound coming back at the moment which is nice, but this is the way I like it over the more chord driven dryer sounding stuff. It’s quite versatile, intriguing and very adaptable for DJ’ing with."

Smokin’ Beats - Look Who’s Lovin’ Me

This has probably been my record of the year so far. It’s an old record from ‘97 and something that I’ve had in my collection for a long time but it came back into my life at the start of the year when I was looking for some deeper, groovier stuff to play at a gig I was playing. I played it that night and it created such a vibe that I’ve been playing it regularly since then. When I played it at Panorama Bar earlier this year it was a real stand-out moment. I think with the tendency for everyone to play faster and harder music right now this record really stands out with its loose Latin groove and soulful vocals.'

This week's mix is from Bennet. With a unique selection through the spectrum of house he carefully approaches his sets with a deep sensitivity and groove-driven peaks. 

Bennet lets the amazing records breathe and create their own highlights. A spring morning where the windows hug the rising sun and the smoke creates suprising patterns.

Track Highlight
One track that stands out for me is ‘Inda’ by Comodo, an alias of Marco Carola. It’s a driving house tool that brings a celestial note to the dancefloor, but over and over subtly explodes in with its driving baseline and always transforms it into a naughty affair.

Trackhighlight Chez Damier & Makèz - „Do It“ (Adeen Records)
An uplifting deep house tune with organic percussions, a thick and bouncy bassline, buttery chords and a fun acid melody that comes in mid-track. I love the two funky disco breaks, definitely a highlight for me.
I bought this record in Japan, while I was on tour in Asia and it immediately became a staple in my record bag. 
The EP is a collaboration between Adeen and legendary Chicago label Balance. All four tracks are produced by Chez Damier and Makéz, plus a smoky remix by Mr G.

Track highlight:
Let It Go – Toka Project (Highlight)

“Let It Go” by Toka Project is one of the first records I bought when I started collecting. This track touched something in me and gave me a feeling of calm, warmth, and connection.

The groove is deep and steady, the chords are jazzy and soulful. There’s a softness in it, but also strength. It creates space to breathe, to feel, to let go.

It’s one of those tracks that doesn’t try too hard – it just flows. It reminded me of what music can do. That’s why it’s a highlight for me.

A 95-minute mix showing what house is, rolling basslines, warm chords and  lovely twists & turns. Time is relative when listening to this mix and makes you want to dance dance dance..

I'm choosing this one mainly - altho it’s a popping house groove from Lukas & Simoncene that I love, almost twisted but the right side of it and getting both mind and body working - is because it features Robert Owens. I know Robert from around the London scene - he’s a lovely man and is still recording and dropping hot shit after starting out back in the 80s. He recently played before me at Panorama Bar and rolled thru to the end. Robert we salute you! This has a nod to Larry Heard's Mr Fingers alias just to ice the cake. VIBE!

The sweetest Eurotic, founder of the lovely collective AZOTH in Nijmegen, brings this week’s mix! Eurotic is the fierce embodiment of a tantalizing energy that runs within the veins of his music. Staying true to his name Eurotic is the reflection of every facet of his artistic expression. From commanding dance floors with immersive, but sensory-charged sets to playfully teasing the crowd with house, progressive and trance elements. With lovely memories, we look back at the party we hosted last March with AZOTH in Mesh, and as a cherry on top, a lovely closing B2B with Eurotic and Carlos Valdes.

Fitalic - No Way Out

With this mix I delve deeper into the more late 90's early 2000's deep and progressive house era. One of my favourite tracks here undoubtedly is No Way Out from Fitalic. This track with its warm and deep chords depicts this sound perfectly. The break is made to bring everybody to the front of the dancefloor. It keeps on building after which it breaks down into this warm, lush and uplifting chorus. If used in the right way it can really get the dance floor going. It's minimal but has just the right elements to do the job flawlessly. I've been playing this out in the sun a lot lately that's why this is my highlight.

This weeks mix is from @d1rcceu an IsBurning and Amsterdam dancefloor favorite. 
Always delvering the best energy and dancemoves and also a super DJ! 

Dircceu is a Brazilian multi-artist and DJ based in Amsterdam, originally from São Paulo. He constructs his own narratives — blending techno, house, disco, breakbeats, and Afro-diasporic sounds with emotional depth, heritage, and futurism.

With this mix he showcases his diverse taste while blending it smoothly and takes you higher with infections melodies and grooves! 

Track highlight:

Paranoid London – Loving U (AAAA)
This track is part of a hypnotic, seductive tension groove that evokes the essence of classic acid house, with unpolished sounds and rebellious attitude. It's aesthetics are influenced by early Chicago acid. I chose it to represent the atmosphere I like to build: sensual, energetic, nostalgic and underground. It blends movements with immersive introspection, guiding the listener into a dancing journey state of mind.

Kyra Khaldi (Live) - Smoke #24

This week's mix is by @bian_ca, a DJ based in Rio De Janeiro, a dedicated vinyl collector and resident at Nervosa, one of Rio’s key underground parties! His sets weave the sweat spot between techno and house, and he keeps it timeless and unexpected. 

The 100-minute mix is a journey where the tension stays exactly where it's supposed to be, shifting in genres and moods, and guides you to a grand finale, leaving you mesmerized. 

Track highlight:
‘’This selection is very special to me, as many of these tracks have been with me for a long time. It includes music from close friends I greatly admire, like Muta’s Poem by Capetini and Black Jesus by Vaskular (feat. Valesuchi). However, the track I’d like to highlight is In Sara, Mencken, Christ and Beethoven There Were Men and Women by Robert Ashley. I still remember hearing it for the first time, and it’s hard to believe it was produced in the ’70s. This was the first time I’ve had the chance to play it in a set, and I fall in love with it all over again every time.’’

This Smoke mix is by no one other then Jeffrey Sfire an household name in the elecontronic music- and queerscene. Originally from suburban Detroit. Behind and in front of the scene pushing sounds and providing platforms. 

As a producer he had a lot of projects: Sfire (with SOPHIE), Looky Looky, and Pushing Movies with releases on labels such as Dark Entries, Cocktail D’Amore Music and Ultramajic. 

With this Smoke mix Jeffrey evokes a timeless contrast between melancholy, heartache, loving and hopeful at the same time. It might be the balance of life or it suits the feeling of the nearing end of summer which is just as finitely as good and bad times.

This weeks IsBurning mix is from Tommy Hart!
Tommy played an amazing set at BRET...IsBurning during Pride and made sure everybody kept on their those until those early/late hours. 

Tommy based in Mexico City approaches each set as a narrative journey, weaving a seamless flow and through line from the first to the final track. The narritive for this mix is the vibe for the end of summer, kicking off with something cunty and confident, finishing with a smooth transition into autumn. 

It’s a mix to really get you in the mood to dance in a club nearby where the ceilling is low and the energy high.

Track Highlight: Carried By the Currents - Pandar 

''I’ve been playing this track to close out many of my sets over the last few months—no matter where the set goes it’s always a nice landing. She’s thumpy and rolling, emotive and dramatic, a lovely way to punctuate everything I’ve said in the mix. I feel like the piano is saying, “Now it’s up to you.”

I love all the tracks on this mix, but I’m choosing “Relax A Little” by Code Talkers (Chris Fortier 40oz Remix) because she was a little bitch to mix—but very, very worth it. There are these unexpected spooky chime stabs with gorgeous delay that completely change the tone of the track. Plus, there’s a mischievous vocal element—I imagine the character behind it as the sonic equivalent of Aubrey Plaza giving side-eye.

With their radioshow ‘’Electronic Idenntity Crises’’ on Relate Radio and their newest endeavor ‘’fruit salad’’ they’re building a world consisting of ambient, experimental electronica and multi-sensory gatherings.

For this Smoke mix they created a heartfelt beautiful journey through embracing difference and wanting to belong. A tension between darkness & release guided by warped sonics and melancholic melodies, a musical reflection about floating in between.

With this mix job shows his funky playful side while still keeps the techno rolling and tough an intresting and lovely balance, but knowing job you would see him happily bounce behind the decks while blasting these tracks towards you! <3

Klubbheads - Klubbhopping

‘’I really enjoy layering vocals and melodies from classic house records onto techno records. Since I am also playing House under my Swift Incorporated moniker, it is really fun to use bits and pieces of this in my job sifre sets too! In this mix I took the classic Klubbheads vocal and looped it, to use it on top of two other tracks. Taking music from one context and see it transform by applying it to a totally different context, is one of my favorite things to do as a DJ. This way you create something recognizable, while at the same time it gives you tools to interact with the crowd with by solo’ing the vocal unexpectedly or doing some fader cuts."

With this breezy and moody house orientated mix she creates a feeling that remind us of those amazing vibes on the dancefloor where the music uplifts the vibe without being to in your face and facilitate those energy bursts. Highly danceable with an beautiful warm ending.

This one was a reminder for me of how music links us. Me traveling from Germany, stumbling into a shop on a Spanish island, discovering a Japanese artist’s collaboration, remixed by a Ukrainian producer. Four countries, one record. Turning different places into a small, connected dancefloor for a moment.
 
Satoshi Otsuki is a new talent from Japan and iO Mulen is in my recordbag basically constantly, I love his deep, rolling, minimal dubby productions.

This weeks mix is by Jess Nash hailing from Berlin with a love letter to the dancefloor. Jess uses their understanding of clubbing to intuitive balance rhythm and atmosphere.

While listening to the mix it’s easy to envision your favorite dancefloor where sound and sweat is dripping from the walls. Bodies moving as one organism. Driving, deep and dark creating a feeling of dancefloor togetherness that sucks you in, especially in the moments where the intensity slightly flows away but you know it will be back in no time. Pure and honest.

‘’it’s proper vibey; something for the body & the soul! It was released in August on Steffi’s label Dolly as part of ‘dolly 15YRS’ which is a wicked 15 year anniversary VA.
