About Me:

DJ MDIJK was born on September 20, 1987 on the beautiful island of Aruba as Maylin Darliz Dijkhoff. In December of 2009, she graduated with an AA Degree in Business Administration from Miami Dade College. In August of 2010 she returned to the U.S. to continue with her studies at University of Central Florida.

Musical Background:

DJ MDIJK grew around music due that both of her parent’s families were known musicians around the island of Aruba. At the age of 4 she received her first toy piano, what her parents thought was just something for their child to use as a toy was just the beginning for her passion for music. As she grew older her parents started getting her bigger keyboards till she got her first Yamaha piano. She took piano classes for 5 years where she learned a various styles of music compilations and even composed songs herself. But it didn't stop there, she also developed an interest in cuarta, classic guitar, electric guitar and the drums. She took cuarta classes in Aruba, and thought herself how to play the classic guitar, electric guitar and the drums through the internet.

Inspiration:

DJ MDIJK first laid hands on DJ Equipment when she was 17 years old and fell in love with it. DJ equipment at that time was very expensive so she used computer applications to practice mixing. In 2008, she moved to Miami and got introduced to various arrays of music. At the beginning she was influenced by David Guetta, Daft Punk, DJ Tiesto, DJ Chuckie and several other House DJs. At that time she also bought her first DJ console, the Hercules RMX, with which she made her first mixes.

Reaching her Fans:

DJ MDIJK started recording her mixes and uploading them on SoundCloud, where she got her first fans to listen to her tracks. DJ MDIJK played for the first time in public at her friend’s Halloween Bash in 2010. She also started broadcasting live mixing sessions every now and then. Later during the summer of 2011, she bought her second console, the Pioneer DDJ T1. During that summer, she was asked to DJ live twice on one of Aruba's most listened to radio station CoolFM and she also played for Club Hipsz. After almost a year and a half she went on vacation to Aruba in May 2013 where she got approached to DJ and be the Main Event at the best and biggest nightclub "Confession Nightclub", it was a huge success!

Future:

During December of 2010, while on vacation on the island of Aruba, she got to meet several DJs from the island and also practiced with them and learned new techniques on Pioneer CDJ's 1000 MK3. She's continuously improving herself and learning different mixing techniques and experimenting with different genres, soon she will start producing her own beats. DJ MDIJK has grown so much over the years with her music style that she can play basically anything that gets people moving. Be pending there's more to come from DJ MDIJK.
