It was an ongoing frustration and the continued dumbing down of electronic music within the Auckland scene that naturally brought two of New Zealands most experienced practitioners Greg Churchill and Nick Collings together to curate and host the first ever electronic music show on Radio Hauraki.

Why Radio Hauraki?

Hauraki is the original pirate radio station born on Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf in 1966. 

"Overseas dance culture on the airwaves began through illegal (pirate) broadcast as a necessity to get the music and event information out, as standard radio at the time never took the movement seriously. I love the idea of staying true to those beginnings yet embracing modern technology and Hauraki serves as a platform without compromise to implement those ideals of first and foremost being in it for the love (kicks) and being able to express that weekly to a wider audience" says Nick.

Why a radio show?

"It makes sense as we have grown up physically and musically with our audience. They aren't all people who want to spend every weekend in a club but still love to be involved in the culture and that's what we provide. I spent 11 years with some form of radio show and love that every week is different. I am a total music nerd and the opportunity to show that off is something I live for" says Nick.

This new performance format reflects his forward-thinking approach and commitment to pushing creative boundaries on stage.

With releases on respected labels such as One Records, Spectral Sound, and Phonica Records, Subb-an has firmly established himself as a producer of exceptional talent and creative vision. He has collaborated with celebrated artists including Mathew Jonson, Max Cooper, Seth Troxler, Enzo Siragusa, and Tom Trago.

His productions have earned widespread support from a diverse roster of tastemakers across the global electronic scene, including Ricardo Villalobos, Sonja Moonear, Midland, Peach, tINI, Saoirse, Job Jobse, Sedef Adasi, Chris Stussy, Priku, Laurent Garnier, Shanti Celeste, Peggy Gou, and Anotr.

Looking ahead, Subb-an is set to release new music on forward-thinking labels including Peach Discs, X-Kalay, Yoyaku, and his own imprint, Sub Series, continuing his evolution as a boundary-pushing force in contemporary electronic music.

Exploring sounds while lifting, teasing and taking you through a 7 HOURS total experience, swinging between eclectic styles of black spiritual disco, underground house, garage and beyond filling the dance-floor with deep, thrilling, loving sounds in old-new cozy hidden spaces around the East End! 

Art and deco for the evening will be lovingly curated by Adrienn and her magic hands.

Also an honorary resident at Glastonbury festival with Block9's kaleidoscopic fun house NYC Downlow which Tristan sights as a 'strobelit utopia' and one of his favourite places on the planet.  Regularly turning it out at some of the finest rave meccas across the planet by himself or with his dynamite Dungeon Meat project alongside Brawther, it’s easy to see why his contribution to the dance floor has seen him span nearly 2 decades and continue to win fans everywhere he goes. Add to all this a trickle of studio productions and remixes topping the sales charts and an emphasis on quality not quantity…  the future looks so bright that da Cunha will have to permanently wear shades.
