Dubbel Dutch’s latest offering explores therapeutic instrumentals and self- help riddims.

Newly relocated to Brooklyn, Dubbel Dutch’s newest project grew from a deep love affair with dancehall instrumentals a.k.a. riddims. Unmoved by the impersonal, drop-oriented focus of contemporary dance music, he challenges the listener to consider the sensual and the uplifting in an apocalypse obsessed era.

“Self Help Riddim” is the first single release in a series of singles that will follow leading up to Dubbel Dutch’s Self Help Riddims EP in 2013. This new body of work draws inspiration from dub and dancehall reggae, ethereal grime, and pop music of the African diaspora. In a climate dominated by sparse, dystopian tracks, Self Help Riddims EP represents a yearning for a warmer, more spiritual side of music.

The title track, “Self Help Riddim,” seeks the healing potential of music and aims to uplift, inspire, and motivate the listener, lovingly designed for both the dancefloor and the bedroom, inline with the melodic palette that Mixpak Records founder Dre Skull is well known for.

WI-FI #BASED artist Kari Altmann provides cover artwork and audiovisual support. Her “Self Help Riddim” video debuts soon.

Hot on the heels of the breakthrough success that was last year's single 'Crashed' on Black Butter Records, Stay Positive -the primary creative vessel of producer Matt Farthing- returns with maybe its most colossal tune to date. Featuring none other than Hyperdub's acclaimed leading lady Cooly G on vocals, 'You Hate Me' is a high-octane demonic rave-monster of a record. It takes you from nought to 60 in zero seconds, on a journey starting off in the sweaty throngs of an early 90s M25 free-party, and ending up in the darkest doldrums of 2013 bass culture. Defiant, malevolent, bone-shakingly dance-able, and hypnotically hooky, this is Stay Positive to a tee, but this time turned up to 11, and then some… 

The explosive maiden release from the new Stay Positive Industries label, 'You Hate Me' is the first single release to be taken from the upcoming 'Blood Brother EP', which will mark the first Stay Positive collection since last year's celebrated 'Arem'.

D Wahine Tuning. This great old style composition that was recorded and played by George Keoki Davis utilizes simplistic melodic lines and avoids the use of the sixth string to add a unique timbre to the arrangement. Quite unique and memorable from the early period of slack key recordings.

'Triangulation Station' comes from our forthcoming album 'Released By The Movement', due for release in the autumn.

The single will come with with three additional exclusive tracks. Inlet is a new track we recorded at the Rhombus Rooms using a lot of synths, a drum machine and none at all of shouting. Plus a woozy drone remix of Triangulation Station by Welsh musician/producer R. Seiliog and our remix of I Chi by the awesome Danish band Pinkunoizu.

Pre-orders of the 12" come with immediate download of this track.  The vinyl includes a colour riso printed sleeve and a poster issue of The Isness, a zine made by ourselves.

‘Py shows massive promise’ – Q Magazine

After releasing her astounding mixtape ‘Tripping On Wisdom’ which featured collaborations with the likes of George Fitzgerald, Throwing Snow, Breton and Raffertie last year, Py returns with the long-awaited follow up, ‘Polyethers’, produced by Maths Time Joy and released via Champion Records on 30th June.

A song about being so in tune with someone you love you ride the same emotional cycle together through romance and nostalgia via the testing times, ‘Polyethers’ marks the next natural musical step for Py. Showcasing her vocal depth and tone, ‘Polyethers’ is an epic love song, complete with soul-tinged harmonies; both emotionally grand and understated in all its bittersweet subtleties.

Fresh from his groundbreaking Jamie Lidell remix, from Berlin based DJ/ Producer Jimmy Edgar (Warp/!k7/Hotflush) on the flip, Py has effortlessly managed to retain her contemporary electronic sound and clear artistic vision, rooted deep through ‘Tripping On Wisdom’, whilst simultaneously showcasing her impressively versatile, pop-spattered voice.

Since completing a debut headline UK tour late last year as well as support for the likes of Fenech Soler on their the recent sold-out tour, Py has developed a full live show in the past few months.

With support as diverse as Radio 1’s Rob Da Bank, Mixmag, Dazed & Confused, FACT and The Guardian and with further releases to drop on Champion, as well as forthcoming live dates and collaborations with Supreme Cuts through the latter half of 2013, Py is one artist set to stick around for a long time yet. Make sure you also watch out for her Red Bull Introducing session set to drop in late May.
