"Sabo’s record label, Sol Selectas presents an organic house EP with Beleric influence by German Brigante.

German Brigante is back on Sol Selectas with his third EP for the label, and it’s a four-track release that blends flamenco influences with majestic synths and flowing percussion.

Based in Spain, German Brigante has been releasing electronic music for over a decade, and his sound has evolved throughout the course of his career. His classic releases have been on labels such as Get Physical, but in recent times he has featured melodic tracks on imprints such as Monaberry and Bar 25. German Brigante also heads up his own respected record label called Manitox.

Following years of DJ experience where German Brigante has travelled the world to play gigs everywhere from Australia to America, he is able to translate his innate knowledge of what works on a dancefloor into the invigorating sound of his music productions.

“Acido Azul” opens the release with an old-school acid house bassline, which is overlayered with bubbling synths and uplifting Spanish vocals that create an enchanting vibe. The upbeat percussion rhythms and subtle bursts of flamenco guitar add to its feel-good vibe.

“Açai” has a thickset bassline that lays a foundation for a finger-picked flamenco guitar and a fluttering flute that adds to the track’s sun-drenched sound.

“Será el Flamenco” has a deep bassline and emotive Spanish vocals that give the track an epic sound that’s augmented by its powerful melodies and samba-style percussion.

“Inquietud” closes out the release with its downtempo groove and acid bassline. Sweeping strings and sensual vocals combine with a mesmerising flute and alluring guitar that adds to the track’s seductive sound.

The artwork by Helia Jamali shows the passion of a Flamenco dancer lost in the rhythms of the Andalusian skies."

After releasing their debut collaboration with ‘Trust The Process’ and ‘Out Of Control’, which both have been smashing the dancefloors worldwide over the second half of the year. Bonnie Spacey and Franz Matthews strike again on HIFI/LOFI by releasing the second part of their ‘Trust, Process, Control’ EP with 2 stunning remixes of masters Daddy Squad and Phunkadelica, which ought to make Giorgio Moroder wonder if his famed arpeggiated synths haven’t made kids behind his back.

Andrew Armstrong aka Daddy Squad kicks things off with what could be modern version of a Studio 54 disco banger, progressively building from an engaging arpeggiated synth base to then bring a sweetening touch to Bonnie and Franz’s vocals, the track really unfolds in a festival of epic synth brass stabs that are sure to get any dancing crowd higher than her highness making it to the peak of the mount Everest.

Italian superheroes of intergalactic grooves, aka Phunkadelica summon the dark powers of lord arpeggiator with a dizzying synth line run that gets heavier, and heavier, and heavier...until things get ‘Out Of Control’, and you could almost feel like the club has become a heavy metal venue where blood is coming out from the fire sprinklers (if you haven’t got the ref, type « Blade Vampire Club Scene » on YouTube, but, please, do yourself a favour, don’t watch the rest of the movie).

Who said ‘Italo only has one flavour’ ? Nobody actually. But what we know, is that these 2 revisions are brilliantly reinterpreting the 2 originals in their very own way, and we can’t to see you to enjoy them on the dancefloor, at home, on a cosmic spaceship, or played by the opening DJ at Metallica’s next show, who knows!

Sol Selectas is pleased to welcome back Spanish artist German Brigante with a stunning solo EP titled “Será El Flamenco”.
As the name suggests, “It Will Be Flamenco” is a fusion of traditional flamenco melodies with electronic grooves and rhythms, and all the recordings are original works, not sampled. This is a family release, with German’s own father Kurry featured on three of the songs on acoustic guitar, and his cousin Agustín performing flute on 2 songs as well. With such strong roots in the Flamenco tradition going back generations in German’s family, we can really feel something special and personal on this release.

“Acido Azul” is a certified dance floor hit, with 303 lines swirling on top of cowbells and a sultry female voice, combined with a dramatic drum roll build-up blasting us into the deep infectious bass lines German is notorious for.

“Açai” really highlights the flamenco guitar mastery of German’s father Kurry, with cousin Agustín backing him up on the flute, and Gitano chants on top.

“Será el Flamenco “ the title track has deep chords and pad progressions to highlight the vocal story being told, on top of another deep bass groove and Kurry’s mesmerizing guitar licks.

“Inquietud” is the perfect track to close this EP, taking the tempo down a notch without losing any excitement or emotion. The track grooves along with bright percussion fills, cosmic arpeggios and the lovely sounds of German’s talented family members.

The artwork by Helia Jamali shows the passion of a Flamenco dancer lost in the rhythms of the Andalusian skies.

The Sigel line quoted above always stuck out to me, because Beans was one of the few artists (in that day and age at least) who had 'Best Of' mixtapes on the street without an album in sight. Of course things are different in 2013, when the market is oversaturated with leaks, mixtapes, pre-mixtapes of mixtapes, trailers of pre-mixtape mixtapes and the like. But in my humble opinion, Bibby and Herb don't fit into that category. But these two were in dire need of a 'Best Of' type of project, and like Beans "y'all ain't heard shit yet."

These two emcees (who rhyme together a good amount of the time) started heating up last summer, then announced their Welcome To Fazoland (Herb) and Free Crack (Bibby) mixtapes, which were both to be quarterbacked by producer DJ L. But as fall came and went, no mixtapes arrived. Then winter passed — still nothing. Now we're kicking summer's door down (yet again), and these two are finally putting the finishing touches on their proper debuts. Thankfully.

But over the course of the past year, these two have continuously dropped solid material. A track here a video there — they've always stayed in the market — we just never got the mixtapes. Well, FSD joined forces with DJ L to put together this compilation, The Best Of Herb & Bibby: Heir Apparents, featuring all of their released heat in the same place at the same damn time. Some Mp3s weren't available, some links were dead, some were featured on other artists mixtapes — but the best of the best are all here.
