Recorded at the river Ouse, at the point at which it runs through my home town of Lewes, in Spring 2013, 'Going Under' explores the fluidity between mind and location through the language and sounds of water. 

Going Under was performed at the San Francisco Tape Music Festival, the International Conference for Emotional Geographies and broadcast on BBC Radio 3's Late Junction and the CCA Glasgow's Radiophrenia.

Don't (Radio Edit)

The first release in eight years from vocalist, composer and sound artist Isobel Anderson, 'a voice leaked out from a crack in my throat' revisits the site of the voice physically, socially and internally.

After an initial vocal strain left her unable to sing for several years, Isobel began exploring what it truly means to sing: how a voice forms, what makes it distinctive, and why it moves us.

This composition confronts the currency, power and playfulness of the female voice, inviting the listener to play a game: to notice the ways the voice seduces, unsettles and shapes their experience in real time.

Originally conceived as a collaborative sound installation with ceramicist Carla Wright, the work draws on both artists’ shared interest in gender, voice, community and vessels, and was exhibited as part of Collaborative at County Hall Pottery (Sep–Nov 2025).

The second single from Isobel's new album, CHALK / FLINT: Feed Me tracks patterns of grooming and abusive relationships drawing from Isobel's own experience of this, but flipping Isobel's role to predator instead of prey.

Bold, white cliffs adorn the coastline of South East England, its encompassing winds and ambient calm permeate Isobel Anderson’s new single Flint Shingle. The jagged rocks that scatter these beaches hold evocative memories for Isobel and with their sharp edges, a map of her self-discovery is carved into the chalky cliffs.

Flint Shingle is evidence of Isobel Anderson’s growing songwriting prowess, with a conscious effort to develop the production and instrumentation on the record. Isobel’s textured vocals conjures a haunting ambience, she explains, “It is sort of a love song, if only with a nostalgic, almost regretful, sentiment. The idea is that the landscape acts as a sort of sobering force, a marker of myself and what I am now.”

Despite returning to her birthplace of Sussex to write the album, Belfast is now home for Isobel, and the new record was recorded in Northern Ireland’s Millbank Studios. She has amassed over 17 million Spotify streams, as well as consistent radio play across the BBC network and The Guardian’s Music Podcast. Highly regarded for her mesmerising live shows, Isobel has put on thrilling performances at festivals up and down the country, including Glastonbury (Acoustic Stage) and The Secret Garden Party.
