With plans of recording a studio EP now on the back burner because of the COVID19 pandemic, Mookie + The Bab will be releasing a series of live singles and videos, that were filmed just before the lockdown. The first single is ‘I Will Be’. “We wanted to release the most positive song first to help raise spirits during these hard times”- Abi.


“I Will Be” is a response to the cynicism that can be induced by constant exposure to the news, which can act as our daily highlight reel of the worst events in the world and the worst examples of human behaviour. If someone sitting in office is making you feel rotten, maybe the person sitting next to you can make you feel better.

Written as a modern acoustic rock version of a traditional work song with call and response style melodies and backing vocals throughout the song, “Into The Fire” is written from the perspective of a worker being told to “keep on digging or you won’t get paid”, whilst workers, bosses and company shareholders are all compelled by the bottom line to dig a path straight to hell. 


“I wanted to write a song that is a reflection on the unfolding environmental catastrophe. The song expresses a lot of my thoughts on the inability of a money driven world to deal with climate change. The short sightedness of companies that are maximising their profits in a way that accelerates our entire planet to a giant economic and ecological meltdown is something that I wanted to get across.” - Songwriter Marc Otway

Into The Fire (Live Session)

Ghosts of you was written by songwriters Marc and Abi during a trip to Joshua Tree national park. The lyrics contrast the desert of today with its lush past where rivers flowed and fruit trees grew. Now the desert is mostly dry and Barron but with tantalising mirages that occasionally flicker in the unreachable distance like ghosts of the rivers that once flowed through.

"ISSIMO consists of core members Abi Uttley and Marc Otway backed by a group ‘Issimites’. 
The pair formed after they had both competed in the finals of a nationwide battle of the bands called ‘Rock the House’ which was held at the House of Commons and supported by big names such as Queen’s Brian May, Blink 182’s Mark Hoppus and Rick Wakeman (Former keyboard player for Yes.) Uttley and Otway finished 1st and 2nd respectively in the solo act category, and have since formed ISSIMO, having already gained attention with shows at Latitude Festival, Cornbury Festival, and Beat Herder festival. 2018 will see the release of their debut album “The Adventures of Issimo” which brings together a unique blend of exotic sounds into a uniquely vibrant and dynamic mix held together by strong rhythmic core of driving Rock, Ska and Latin beats."
