Yeah, communication is an art and works as it does for a reason. Words have weight because we need them to in order to share ideas with and convey emotion to each other. The free speech absolutists who want to use slurs with impunity fully intend to hurt people with those words but want to avoid the social censure that comes with it now. But if you have the intent of a racist, does it matter whether you get called one or not? Besides, words are just words, right?
