I've flung the vault open again! I've always loved Chicago style house - with it's loose grooves and big funky bass lines. All house music can trace its roots back to Chicago, the birth place of the genre back in the late 80's. I was heavily influenced by the second wave of Chicago house cats though; the likes of Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Mark Farina and Phil Weeks - and you can definitely hear that in this mix. Recorded in the mid 2000's, this is some funky shit that will get your feet moving and your hips wiggling.

I played at SubSurge a whiles back and have meant to record a set to show some of the tunes I played. It's finally here, because I have ADHD and LOOK, THERE'S A GRASSHOPPER!!

This soundscape is a clan of Elephants migrating across the plains to greener land — communicating with each other using infrasonic frequencies. It starts out a little chill and melodic, but as the danger increases, so does the grit. Finally, after an arduous journey, they make it safely to the oasis at the end. Funky. Trunky. You’ll need good bass wobblers for this one!

having a music machine in my pocket at all times has done wonderful stuff for my brain i reckon. life and stuff has me too busy to be obsessing over tracks in Ableton for hours like in the times that i was privileged enough to be able to do. the tonal and expressive constraints in this small but powerful sequencer have allowed me to really push my creativity to its threshold without being overwhelmed by choice of options like i tend to be

i wrote all these instrumental tracks as little demos (with the exception of the last track which is a cover/tribute :P) and i wasn't intending on releasing them but i'm really proud of how they sound as standalone tracks and i can re-release them in better arrangements if i want who even cares. they're short because copying and pasting unlabelled midi clips manually is so unnecessarily tedious but if you'd like them to be longer just listen twice :)

tracks are titled after what i saved them as in the M01D file system which only allows 8 characters maximum. in terms of genre they go from synthwavey stuff to funky stuff to idk experimental chaotic bassy stuff??? you tell me how to categorise track 8 lol. they all share the motif of experimenting with groove and polyphony within the limits of the sequencer
