Ministry of Sound has partnered with Nissan to create the world's ultimate mobile sound system - the JUKE Box. Louder than a jumbo jet in take-off, the technical know-how for the JUKE Box comes from sound experts Martin Audio, who designed and built the current system in The Box - the main room at our London home.

Building on the Ministry of Sound ethos of 'creating the moments people live for', together with Nissan we turned to Martin Audio to create a 150 decibel, 18,900W sound system, which is completely self-sufficient in terms of power and production. Thanks to its custom-built 19 kilowatt rig, the JUKE Box's sound system fits into a standard Nissan JUKE. A set of custom-made cabinets and enclosures housing two 18inch powered sub units and the same Mid Hi enclosures that are used at Ministry of Sound enable exceptionally loud output without compromising on sound quality.

This is the first in a 2-part webisode below created to coincide with the Juke's debut at Le Mans 24 hour endurance race in June 2012, giving you a behind the scenes look at the JUKE Box coming to life - from invention through to realisation.

Bruno Mars - Locked Out Of Heaven (Major Lazer Remix)

As if Coyu hasn't given Skint enough with his 2011 floor filler remix of “X-Press 2 - Muzik Xpress”, he's back again to pay homage to one of the greatest and most celebrated Skint releases of all time. Fatboy Slim - Right Here, Right Now. 

Coyu takes the iconic string / sitar loop, laces it with a shimmering hi-hat rhythm over a pounding kick drum and punctuates it with choral stabs, to create a funked up club banger that manages to retain all the drama of the original. Take that dance floor; see if you can better this. Hands will be lifted, feet will be stomped and parties will peak. 

Can anyone contain the possibilities of this track? We don't think so. It's stamped its place in dance music history and who better to reaffirm its position than Suara boss man, Coyu.

Hyper Real is Ital Tek's first transmission for Civil Music. Four original tracks exploring footwork's rhythmic palette, plus remixes from Deft and Throwing Snow. After the success of their debut album 'Mind Over Matter' released on Crosstown Rebels earlier this year, Venezuelan duo Fur Coat return with ‘Fall's Away’; one of the biggest cuts from the album which features the lush vocals of Mel Blatt and a killer pair of remixes from DJ Sneak and Just Be.

Deep warm pads, filtered toms and vocal chops open things up on the original version of Fall’s Away and after the introduction of a groove inflected kick and bass combo it becomes apparent that this one is going to be taking complete control of the dance floor. This notion is accentuated even more once Blatt's soulful contribution enters the foray with its lyrical and vocal excellence.

On somewhat of a resurgence at present, house legend DJ Sneak does what he has done for the last 20 years and delivers a slice of up front house music straight out of the Chi-town text book. Fat kicks, swinging highs and a deep and driving low end are all in attendance, whilst vocal stabs and swirling samples lead to several hypnotizing climaxes. Clubbers beware: this one is relentless.

Just Be aka Bushwacka steps up for the final remix offering and stays closer to the original whilst bringing an otherworldly vibe to the party, with eerie synth melodies and cosmic sweeps taking centre stage. An infectious builder, the track picks up some serious steam throughout and is sure to have dance floors shifting by the end.

An artist of versatility and skill, Viken considers music to be foremost a mirror of his emotions, not limiting himself to a single musical universe. Since he was young, he’s explored all various types of musical styles which he’s merged, and composes based solely off his mood. His mastery of the piano, and an attained degree at music school, has supplied him with a formal background in musical culture, and an undeniable ease which has enabled him to develop artistic creations ranging from Jazz through music for films, classical works, up until electronic music which he’s been experimenting with for the past 13 years.

For this first release, Viken offers two pieces which borderline between minimal, electronica and deep house. Supported by the maintenance for a constant harmony, the rhythm throughout 'Nostalgie' and 'Addiction' is embellished with refined and magnificently crafted beats. When most come to a halt entering that which is unexplored and uncertain, Viken succeeds with brilliance : marrying coherence and traditional melodic charm, not to mention "symphonies" of clearly electronic-oriented beats composed from original and unique sounds. The influence of the ‘Greats’ in regards to contemporary music at a broad sense can easily be deciphered when listening to Viken’s work : names like Erik Satie and Acid Pauli come first to mind.

Berlin producer Nico Stojan, pillar to bar 25 and Germany’s deep/tech-house scene, took on his own spin to the title Addiction. What emerges is a dynamite version with immaculate percussions enhanced by a nonchalant bass.

The other title of the EP, ‘Nostalgie’ is remixed by another producer across the Rhine, Paul Chriske, aka Powel. Both ascending from Berlin’s deep-house scene, Paul has everything to become legendary : a signature sound recognizable amongst 100s, an experienced drummer, etc. From the remix emerges a complete reconfiguration of the track, centralized around the use of the piano. Powel totally reworks the bass, an atypical speciality done by the use of his ‘paw’, the captivating atmosphere he scatters throughout the track via sounds deriving straight from the depths of Berlin.

DJ Mathieu Schreyer is a fan and put out the call for something special.  “I’ve been really digging the Great Dane LP, out on local label Alpha Pup. It has some dope beats so I asked labelhead Daddy Kev, an old friend of mine who is also a founding member of LA’s famed weekly club night Low End Theory, if Great Dane would be keen to do a mix for the show, and voila!"
