Blueprint Blue is Melissa Rigby and Huw Webb of S.C.U.M and Astral Pattern, alongside Elliot Hayward. Inspired by artists like CSNY, Crazy Horse, Manassas and The Band, the trio are set to release their debut 12" EP in the Spring via Italian Beach Babes.

Describing their sound as "influenced by Neil Young's 'Tonight's the Night' and The Band's 'Music from Big Pink' albums", the new EP will be recorded with Jerome Watson (The History Of Apple Pie) in London over two nights.

With the obvious soundings and influence from their respective ‘other’ projects, White Sands heightens a darker and far more furious edge to any of those previous. ‘The Wait’ drives like a freight train, packing 182 seconds of lucid frustration – “hide everything deep inside / you won’t find anything”.
 
‘The Wait’ is set to be released as a 7” flexidisc accompanied by a 20 page magazine / 3 track digi-single. We have elected to release music in this format as we were getting a bit frustrated with the standard 7” release and realised we could be giving you plenty more for your money.

Podcast #108 is brought to us by Mazes ahead of the upcoming release of their new album 'Wooden Aquarium' on September 8th. The podcast is the first in a series of three entries featuring demos, album tracks, influences and the music of guest artists featured on the record. Here's what Jack from the band had to say:

"Here's the first in a three part radio show to coincide with the new Mazes album 'Wooden Aquarium'. The first three tracks are the various stages in the life of Astigmatism; from the very first demo, to the semi decent recording we sent off to Jonny Schenke who eventually produced the record. The third version is the one that features on the LP, complete with a guitar solo that I'll never attempt live. Next up is Heather Strange and a cut from the Fergus & Geronimo LP that made us sure Jonny was the guy to record the album. We met Heather doing karaoke and it was only re-listening to the Fergus album, did we realise Heather was on that too. Weird. The show moves through Fugazi to Red Krayola and then to the evolution of the 'Notes Between/Letters Between' song"

I'm constantly amazed at how many great bands have come out of Australia recently... these are perhaps some of the best known, but they are possibly still under some of your radars. I've also included here a demo of the track 'Salford' which has been on 6Music a lot recently and a demo/outtake called Warpaint that didn't make the LP. Just a jam basically. And yeah... named after the band."
