Peshekhod, the debut album from Dima Pantyushin and Sasha Lipsky, oscillates through an immaculate synth-pop ecosystem in which every shift feels both accurate in its absurdity and divinely danceable. 

The album (“peshekhod” translates to “pedestrian”) investigates the inner narrative of a Muscovite as he wanders through the city, recalls his work, and contemplates his existence. It’s roughly autobiographical in scope— Pantyushin was born and raised in Moscow, co-runs Cafe Enthusiast in the city center, and is a visual artist by trade—yet explores feelings universal. His lyrics conjure the nostalgia and joy of parenthood in “Ray of Sunshine,” the paranoia of metropolitan life on “Pigeon,” and the slippage of time on “Chess.” 

Fellow Moscow native and longtime friend, Sasha Lipsky, who writes and performs with his brother in Simple Symmetry, joins Pantyushin on production. Lipsky weaves entire sonic ecosystems for Dima’s instinctual observations and adroit lyrics. The result is a musical landscape that bounces between the terrestrial and the divine as Pantyushin’s croon and Lipsky’s synth-heavy compositions swell with aliveness. 

Pantyushin and Lipsky graft genres to their electronic framework throughout Peshekhod. “Nature” summons 1950’s pastiche complete with upbeat mellotron, while “Time” and “House (With an Attic)” go from ethereal ambient to subterranean techno and back again. But every oscillation and shift feels part of the same system. Pantyushin never strays too far from his pedestrian protagonist. He knows the best stories are the ones in which we can see ourselves, while Lipsky dresses each observation with earworms you’ll struggle to shake, even if you don’t speak the language. Peshekhod is a picaresque in miniature. A record that considers the stations of the day in deft detail, for all to tap into.  

Peshekhod features album art designed by Pantyushin and arranged by Will Work For Good. Peshekhod will be released on Beats In Space Records in March 2020 on limited vinyl and limitless digital platforms.

Metamorphoses is the debut album by electronic duo God is God for Hamburg-based imprint Bureau B. The duo consists of Turkish musician, producer and Kinship label founder Etkin Çekin and Belarussian multi-instrumentalist, composer singer and Not Not Fun alumni Galina Ozeran who started making music after a chance meeting in Berlin in 2015. Metamorphoses is the product of their second ever improvisational encounter: an undulating, avant-pop journey of low-BPM twists and turns guided by Ozeran’s synthesizers, Russian and English vocals and Çekin’s ethereal production and guitar sensibility. Central to the album’s musical narrative are both contemporary dancefloor-adjacent electronics and Eastern European and Turkish psychedelic electronic traditions – all filtered through the prism of Çekin and Ozeran’s respective musical histories.

Ozeran grew up in Vitebsk, Belarus playing classical piano before making her way to St. Petersburg to study curation and become a musician. There she formed various bands and began the lo-fi improvisational dream-pop solo project Chikiss, influenced by Soviet synth pioneers Eduard Artemiev and Alexander Zatcepin as well as American film composer Angelo Badelamenti, Laurie Anderson, and early Warp records. On Metamorphoses, this is reflected in her narcotic melody lines and sung “liquid language” – a kind of improvisational, non-semantic vocalization, which combines fluidly with Çekin’s sonic vision. The latter was honed in both Istanbul and Germany and draws equally on the sounds of Bülent Arel, Erkan Oğur and Turkish 90s indie-experimental band ZEN as well as Roedelius, La Düsseldorf and Suicide.

The result of Çekin and Ozeran’s collaboration is both measured and electric. Things start slow with billowing, amorphous chord clouds in opener “Behind The Heroes” before setting off into the foundational groove of “The Song Pt. 1”, which tunnels forward, bass-first, into dark disco territory. This soon leads into album single “The Song Pt. 2”, a continuation of the previous groove cleverly revisited with Ozeran’s dynamic vocalizing and seductive, dubbed-out sibilance. From here things open up into the wide vistas and droning, string-heavy soundscapes of “Masha Marie” and “Dream”, interspersed by the almost new age FM synth work of “Liquid Space” and “Drops”.

By the time the huge melancholic dance closer “Song To The Siren” sounds it’s final notes, the impulse is to start the journey all over again. It’s a testament to not only GiG’s improvisational chops, but also to their Teo Macero-like additional editing process by Sebastian Lee Philip (Die Wilde Jagd) of condensing a cloud of improvisation into a narrative, 40 minutes of bliss – and multiple modes of psychedelia.

The Black Sea is currently the front line in a war. A war between humanity and inhumanity. In a world where millions are displaced by war and geopolitical disputes which are nothing to do with its inhabitants.  Millions of people are fleeing to EU countries in hope of a better life and while it's not for us to pin our political colours to a mast, we are first and foremost human, and have a responsibility to make sure our fellow humans are safe.
Lurid Music and Anatolian Weapons are making a stand, donating 100% of the proceeds of this EP to Humanity Crew, a charity which specializes in psychological support for displaced refugees fleeing the war ravaged regions from outside the EU.
Anatolian Weapons AKA Athenian resident Aggelos Baltas is currently on the up, with a track selected by Lena Willikens for her Dekmantel Selectors 05 Compilation as well as releases or remixes on Dream Weapons, Faint Object and more. 
Agglelos is keeping up the momentum with a release on Washington label, Lurid Music, a label which has released EPs and remixes from Khidja, Tim Fairplay, Rattler Proxy and Antoni Maiovvi throughout it's sporadic release schedule from the past few years. However, this one has been worth the wait.
Black Sea is slow mo Acid at it's finest with a warm analogue sounds permeating from every orifice of it's being.
Delayed cut up vocals add an atmosphere you would expect from any producer who calls the shores of the Aegean their home, whatever the crisis or crises it might face.

Making his way through the foggy mist that hides the local surroundings, from the very beginning he felt someone's presence. Something moved through these forgotten places, its bright colors are clearly visible even through the thick haze of fog that was growing between them. Horror gripped him, his constrained limbs refused to move, he heard a soft whisper calling him to follow what was hidden in the fog.
Decha’s Hielo Boca LP was released in early 2019 and quickly was embraced by many as an exceptional experimental yet very personal and soulful piece of art. Artist Viktoria Wehrmeister (half of renowned duo Toresch along- side fellow Düsseldorfian Tolouse Low Trax) is already working constantly on her sophomore album for Malka Tuti that will come some time in the near future.
Tapan, Eva Geist, Khidja & Philipp Otterbach took upon themselves to reconstruct Viktoria’s ideas in very surprising, intriguing and “out of the box” ways.

On local pillar Test FM, she’s showcasing an impeccable taste and selection in her own Melomantica radio show by inviting artists from different horizons which allowed her to raise an evergrowing interest all over Europe.
By delivering sophisticated podcasts on countless platforms, Errortica revealed her mixing ability. She performed for Boiler Room Vilnius in 2019 and has been invited to Dekmantel Festival 2020, showing evidence she’s just at the edge of a brilliant career.
