Mike Randall is a DJ based out of San Francisco, CA, so it’s no surprise that he’s been influenced by the musical legacy of the iconic city. Whether it’s DJing at the top clubs in the SF or curating his own parties, for Mike, it’s all about sharing his passion for underground music and bringing people together on the dance floor. 

His style leans toward the indie dance and dark disco genres, but he has a wide range and will often play italo, melodic house & techno, breaks, acid, leftfield, and more. Whatever the genre, you’re bound to hear a blend of tracks with psychedelic & spacey undertones that make you want to groove.

Exclusive: Sexy Lazer - Fluting In Space (Axel Boman Remix)

Danish Dynamite they call call their national football team. Dynamite we call Copenhagen-based artist Sexy Lazer's latest EP on Riotvan Mr. Lava Lava, which probably namely orientates itself towards Shaggy's Reggae ear worm Mr. Bombastic from 95. However, rumors have it that Reggae and Dub-love Axel Boman took on remix duties for Sexy Lazer's track Fluting In Space for exactly those "shagging" reasons. The result is a smoking, pardon fluting downtempo track that prepares one for cosmic experiences within its five minutes living up the expectations the track title suggests. Additionally, Boman slows down the vocals, if not to say he reworks them in good ol' DJ Screw-manner, making them a tempo-wise as well as a musically fit for his approach and ultimately delivers a cut that deserves the remix attribute as it widens the listener's horizon by another (musical) facet. 

Sexy Lazer's EP Mr. Lava Lava is released on April 29th, 2022.

EXCLUSIVE: Sexy Lazer - Fluting In Space (Axel Boman Remix) [Riotvan]

After contributing to the impactful “Shelter Me/Beats For Beds – The Remix Album”, whose proceeds were donated to the NGO Shelter UK, Ian Vale is back on the cool British label Paisley Dark with an EP to call his own. "Like lots of the tracks I’ve produced, “Loft Music” started out in a completely different place to where it eventually ended up”, said Ian. He also declared that the track was "created during the lockdown – it has been tweaked, played, and fine-tuned to what is now the version presented on this release”. He kindly claimed that he feels incredibly honoured to have remixes by some artists he has genuinely admired and looked up to for some time now. He meant Mindbender, Ed Mahon (SXDNS068), Jezebell, and 33rd December plus Duncan Leitch who reworked the bonus track.

Premiered here, Ed Mahon’s interpretation kept the main aura of the original, especially its acid attitude, but added some extra elements such as trippy synth layers, percussive elements, and a Funk-ish/Disco-ish dash. And before you ask: Yes, cowbells were properly added. But maybe not enough? 😉

Having been brought up on a mix of industrial, hardcore and post-punk, Rest My Chemistry caught the rave bug in the electroclash filled early 00’s, rejoicing in the crossover between alternative rock and rave culture.

Fast forward to post-pandemic London and 2022 has been a stellar year for the producer and DJ. Having caught the ears of London’s legendary fetish night Torture Garden, Rest My Chemistry has become a regular DJ on the night’s main stage. Bringing his mix of Dark Disco, EBM and Progressive Techno to clubs across London, such as Ministry of Sound, E1, Electrowerkz and The Scala.

He finishes the year dropping his debut release ‘The Neon Wave’. Out on Nein Records, the EP contains 4 original tracks of dark dungeon sleaze, encapsulating the sound and attitude Rest My Chemistry brings to the dance floor.

Counterterraism Guest Mix 261: Rest My Chemistry

It has not been that long ago that Eileen started her career. But since the beginning, she has been considered one of the most promising talents in Frankfurt. With gigs at some of the coolest spots in town, such as Shuka Bar, Ima Rooftop, AMP, Silbergold, and Listener, her sonority develops itself through a broad amount of House Music encompassing as many sub-genres as possible and is mainly influenced by the likes of Francesco Del Garda, DMX Krew, and Le Loup, just to name a few. 

Despite being relatively new in the scene, she has already started throwing her own club night: Amore Collab has the goal of trying to bring a bit of musical variation to Frankfurt. 

"My motivation is to build a space for everyone who just wants to have a great time, fun, and dance. Always looking forward to playing the next time and curious about what will happen in the future", she said.

Without pretension, when Adolpho & Franky take on a set, they often have the ambition to do whatever they want. But as dancefloor dictators, and despite their rather evocative pseudonyms, they are actually known for one violence. That of the requirement, applied to all the areas they touch upon. Known in Lausanne for having concentrated honeyed musical roundups in the club of La Ruche, which was followed by the Folklor two years ago, the two partners cultivate interdisciplinarity and a certain taste for mixing cultures. Between the Spanish Vintage Franky, which was parachuted in from a past that has dragged hip hop or breakdance, and Flash Fab, a German-Swiss graphic designer who teaches his aesthetic visions during the day, a musical agreement has formed around protean productions and mixes, ranging from the minimal to the house. Serial diggers, always on the lookout for both dance and experimental tracks, Adolpho & Franky share a vision of the party as an art in its own right, and agree that atmosphere, audience interventions and other night contingencies are all part of their show. Solicited in Berlin, New York, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Paris, Ibiza, Rome, Oslo or Barcelona, in renowned clubs or major festivals, these happy few are still making audiences dance, audiences which in their image, are curious to know what the future music has to offer us yet.
