Suntime is defo the most psychedelic of this offering. Straight up peyote drenched style synths with plenty of those ace whirly style stabs amongst a lazy swung arp & rolling percussion work.

Broken Song closes off the party and is certainly the disco member of this family. Funky as heck bassline action with a warped up vocal stab fitting nicely around some cosmic-esque style synth work. Serious neck & head-nodding workout vibes.

Exclusive: Sexy Lazer - Fluting In Space (Axel Boman Remix)

Danish Dynamite they call call their national football team. Dynamite we call Copenhagen-based artist Sexy Lazer's latest EP on Riotvan Mr. Lava Lava, which probably namely orientates itself towards Shaggy's Reggae ear worm Mr. Bombastic from 95. However, rumors have it that Reggae and Dub-love Axel Boman took on remix duties for Sexy Lazer's track Fluting In Space for exactly those "shagging" reasons. The result is a smoking, pardon fluting downtempo track that prepares one for cosmic experiences within its five minutes living up the expectations the track title suggests. Additionally, Boman slows down the vocals, if not to say he reworks them in good ol' DJ Screw-manner, making them a tempo-wise as well as a musically fit for his approach and ultimately delivers a cut that deserves the remix attribute as it widens the listener's horizon by another (musical) facet. 

Sexy Lazer's EP Mr. Lava Lava is released on April 29th, 2022.

Spanish producer, Logic Records label boss, and Roam Recordings alumni Javier Busto teams up with Mufti aka Bernardo Barrera (½ of Los Fugazzi) to deliver the Dosis EP. The release comes with two original versions and two remixes. The first version by Javier Busto is a driving track with rhythmic synth and arp work underpinning Mufti's sultry voice. The second version is from Mufti himself who adds guitars and a bit of grit. Up first on the remix is Azaria who returns to Roam to bring an epic summertime remix of the original. Rounding out the EP is a stripped down beat heavy version from Roam Recordings boss Jason Peters.

Tokyo's Kezokichi steps up with a new package on his own Blindetonation label that comes boosted by superb remixes from 
Thomas Freudenthal and Arthur Johnson.

During his time in London, Kezokichi made a big impression with slick sets at his own "Back To Back"events held in the hippest quarters of the capital. He built up a cult following for his fresh take on dark disco and his label has now become a real bastion for such sounds from key artists all over the world.

His own studio sound is at the vanguard of this scene and now he leads from the front once again. This typically strong new release opens up with 'Ess Tie', six fantastic minutes of mysterious and trippy chug disco. 
The pads are filled with sci-fi feeling, the bass is rugged and moody, and the whole thing has an alluringly eerie feel. 

Remixer Thomas Freudenthal is a producer and engineer of the Pardon Moi band who also heads up Feinstoff. His great rework flips the original into a punchy disco cut with well swung drums and taught synth sequences that ride up and down the mix and encourage you to move.
The excellent 'Nahnah' is heavier than the first original, with more mechanical grooves churning away beneath pixelated synths and vamping chords that build unrelenting pressure. It is pure dancing music
of the highest order. 

Then comes Belgium's Arthur Johnson, a key figure in this alt disco scene thanks to music on La Dame Noir, and his remix is filled with dark punk energy, slapping hits and spooky pads that all take you on a real adventure into the night. This is another futuristic EP filled with invention from Blindetonation.

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.
