11 months ago I wrote and produced a song called The Moment. It was one of those things that just came together so quickly. So effortlessly. I hadn't even put drums to the song yet and I already had a chorus and both verses written. The song became very personal for me and I immediately knew I had created something special. At the time however, I had yet to realize how greatly this song would impact my life in the months to come...

The following 6 months were spent demoing vocalist after vocalist. Both female and male. All phenomenal vocalists, but none of whom expressed the true emotion I wanted conveyed from this song. As luck would have it though, my good friend Seeno heard my track and recommended a vocalist named Ben whom he had worked with in the past. Ben and I connected through email and after hearing one demo from him, I knew he was going to be exactly what I was looking for. There was a real rawness and warmth in his voice and his tone was a perfect fit for the song. I was immediately sold and excited to hear that Ben would be flying from Charlseton to LA for a week to visit Seeno. This meant we could track in person and get every take dialed flawlessly! We scheduled a day to record and I got started on finalizing the production...

3 months ago, on the day before we were scheduled to record, I was the victim of a hit and run while waiting at a stoplight on my motorcycle. I was knocked unconscious, thrown 35 feet into the intersection, and suffered several injuries to my hand, leg and back...At the time it all seemed so surreal and all I could think about was making sure we recorded and finished this song. Somehow, I managed to show up to the session with Ben the next evening and although I wasn't able to do anything except sit and give my input on the takes, I did have Seeno to help me track and run the whole session (thanks bud!). We were able to get all the takes needed and I spent the following few months recovering...

1 month ago, I returned to the studio and finished The Moment. I remember feeling indifferent at the time, as if I hadn't really accomplished anything. Looking back now though, I realize how much of an achievement it was finishing this song after everything I went through trying to create it...It had been a physically and mentally exhausting journey, but after 11 months, 7 demos, 2 rewrites, 1 full production remake, 23 mixes, 5 masters, 1 motorcycle accident and several injuries later...it was finally finished.

The reason I'm sharing this story with you is not just to give you some insight on the finished product, but the journey that brought us to it. This song now means more to me than it ever did when I first created it, because of that journey. I almost lost my life in the process of creating this song and in that process, I learned to take time to appreciate every moment that is given to me, no matter how big or small. I learned that doing what makes us happy in this life is truly all that matters, and everything else is just background noise. I think sometimes we get so caught up in the craziness of life, that we forget to live. To love. To create. To appreciate the little things this world has to offer us. We forget that life is short, and every moment is worth living.

So I want to say thank you to everyone for listening. For being patient. For being a part of this crazy journey with me and of course, for all of your support.
