"This mix is dedicated to my father Arthur A Charnesky and in Honor of Black History. He passed away on February 18th 2006 in Washington D.C.  My dad was born in the early thirties in PA from Polish Immigrants. It was because of him I was exposed to all kinds music of Black Artists from the 50's, 60's and 70's such as Gladys Knight and The Pips, Dianna Ross, Marvin Gaye, Fats Domino, George Mcrae, Sam Cooke, Quincy Jones, Jackie Wilson , The Platters, Johnny Mathis, Lou Rawls and SO many more. All of these songs have tremendous meaning to me and I've wanted to make a mix of this nature for quite awhile."

With two decades to her tenure, Clarisa Kimskii has established herself as a fixture within the ever-growing techno communities of New York, Berlin, and Washington DC. As a producer, she has released music with a myriad of reputable labels (Monday Off, Dusk & Haze, Mysteries of the Deep, etc.), but it’s through her own label L.A.G where the ethos of her sound truly takes form - a detailed variation of hypnotic storm of atmospheric soundscapes.

Kimskii organized events in New York prior to moving to Berlin, but her move back home to Washington DC allowed her to build and establish community around her party Sprüdel - a queer underground event series that brought serious techno talents to the nation’s capital.

Her pure, yet passionate approach to DJing has paved the way for memorable nights at international institutions in Tresor, About Blank, Output, Griessmuehle, Pornceptual and The Bunker NY. Recent appearances at Honcho Campout , Club Toilet,  Merge, Maybeland, Void, Wrecked, The Foundry (SF) and Non-Stop (Nowadays)  have only elevated her reputation as a force within those respective communities. She was named a resident of Queer collective Merge in November 2022 shortly after returning to New York City early fall. The saga continues with juicy bits on the horizon.

For entry number 10 in the PPRZ Podcast series, we have a mix from New York's @threehz

threehz is an explorer of textural, dream-like emotion. With sets ranging from sludgy dark psychedelia to kaleidoscopic warpdrive techno, threehz is a rising tripped-out player throughout New York City’s techno dance floors. 

His namesake is an inaudible but mystical frequency associated with theta waves, dreams, meditative states, and divination - a frequency allegedly imbued with brutal physical power that could topple speaker stacks if they were only capable of reproducing and amplifying 3Hz. With a deep grounding in musical esoterica and a previous life in metal music - most recently as part of celebrated avant-metal outfit Sannhet – threehz is a full-bore sonic experimentalist. 

threehz’ DJ career has been on a long arc, launching in earnest with an exploratory, cross-genre show on The Lot Radio with friend and Sannhet bandmate AJ XO. The pair’s collaborative work, titled NO DAWN, has been in rotation on The Lot for seven years, and has yielded expansive joint sets at recent editions of the Shaker Mountain festival. 

His deep and psychedelic techno series “dream/self” at Queens mainstay Mansions has showcased him alongside other like-minded techno experimentalists, and he has made regular appearances at the venerable Bossa Nova Civic Club. threehz’s continued passion for distilling and blending psychedelic sounds has yielded focused and deep dives into techno for densely foggy dancefloors and pulsing colors – a place threehz himself is likely to be found at the blurry morning hours.

threehz describes their mix as “This winter has felt very long and dark for a lot of people, myself included.  A lot of difficult energy has been in the air, but finally in the past week or two it feels like spring is trying to break through the darkness – literally and figuratively.  I think this mix reflects that – starting in a darker, confusing space and eventually working itself to a place with a glimpse of hope. It’s a bit darker than what I’ve been playing lately, but I think it is true to both my roots and my more recent focus.  Selection wise, I tried to pull from classic 90’s material through brand new releases, and I tried to work in a third deck a bit more than usual for some tripped out layered bits. I hope you enjoy the journey!”

Silent Servant is the primary pseudonym of California electronic artist Juan Mendez, who produces techno with a heavy post-punk/industrial influence. He first began releasing material as Silent Servant during the mid-2000s, when he was a key member of the influential techno collective Sandwell District. Following numerous well-received underground singles, he made a major impact on the techno world with Negative Fascination, his acclaimed 2012 full-length debut. Following Mendez's co-founding of the Jealous God label in 2013, as well as several singles and collaborations with the likes of Marcel Dettmann and Phase Fatale, Silent Servant released his second album, the more overtly EBM-influenced Shadows of Death and Desire, in 2018.  2023 sees Mendez continuing to Play the US and Europe, New releases On L.I.E.S., Tresor and maintaining his sixth year of the Optimistic Decay radio show on NTS.

Dancer, Netil Radio resident, techno futurist, trap enthusiast, DAW enchanter, GEM (Gestural Electronic Music Collective) founder; she's many things, but she's also a stunningly good DJ with a true talent for hypnotising with her sounds. In her own words: 'This mix is my feels from the month of Mercury, in retrograde. It's a reflection of my cosmic journey during the month and of my need for its healing frequencies. It's the coming of the Worm Moon on the same day as the Equinox.' Just take a listen and it'll all make sense - serious healing powers are on display with this one.

Son historias con especial atención al la materialidad sonora. Sus producciones son experimentos 4x4 de bajo tempo con grabaciones de campo y espacios marcados, donde explora timbres, texturas y estructuras cinematográficas. Es residente en las sesiones de Alpenglühen y Prima Materia en Madrid y propietario del sello Antimatter junto con Bule. También dirige el sello homónimo Alpenglühen, centrado en un techno profundo y ambiental que explora la delgada línea entre la luz y la oscuridad. Desde finales de 2019, lleva a cabo CALMA junto a Josephine, Diskoan y Vrika, eventos de día dedicados a la electrónica de escucha y al ambient en Madrid. artist statement: "Music has maybe been the only enjoyable escape for me during the pandemic, and my relationship to it has taken on a new shape given that I only listen at home alone, mainly on headphones, and at odd hours. I’ve used Ableton to DJ for over a decade now, and this mix is no exception—though I wanted to do something different here, given these new listening patterns. So this is more of a 'mega mix’ style studio session, with lots of layering, edits, and quick transitions. A bit phrenetic, but the intention was to reflect some of the unease and uncertainty of the moment, while revisiting tracks I played at my last two in-person gigs in New York alongside many favorites from my years growing up in Chicago." @ken-meier

"This No Way Back stream was the first time I’ve performed a set from my home studio. When I was first planning this set, before the pandemic really hit hard, I had kind of a different idea in mind. I was planning something more sample-driven, less melodic. And although I would’ve deeply preferred to be in Detroit for No Way Back in-person under normal circumstances, the fact that I ended up performing from my studio meant I had all of my synthesizers there to use, including the larger ones that I don’t normally have in my live rig like the Prophet-6. I decided to take advantage of that, and the resulting set took kind of a different turn. This set includes some of the music that’s coming out later this year on my album with Mysteries of the Deep. I hope you enjoy."

Chris SSG is best known as the co-founder of the now defunct MNML SSGS blog, recognized as a leading source of critical insight on electronic music. In recent years, he has moved from the online world into the Tokyo techno scene. He is the organizer of a series of MNML SSGS events, and is a resident at the semi-regular Sound Garden chill out parties. As a DJ, Chris SSG eschews standard dancefloor music, instead focusing on a range of sounds from ambient, experimental, kosmische through to more abstract forms of techno.

"It's the Celtic holiday that Halloween spawns from. It was the loop point, the new year. Ancient people dealt with grey areas in strange ways, the change between years caused this loose period existing between the end and beginning. This is where it gets interesting: they believed dimensions were colliding in a sort of interdimensional crosstalk, where the planes of the living and the dead were touching, so the dead could walk the earth. A way to convene with your ancestors, and a great reason to burn fires and scare your friends and neighbors. There's way more to it, most of it can't be written, it can only be felt, which is usually elusive but somehow easy at this time of year."
 
The original recurring party for Interdimensional Transmissions is Samhain, celebrating the ancient Celtic holiday that acknowledges the loop point of time, and the origin of IT. Had there not been Covid-19 the plan killer, we would have had the 20th anniversary of this party in Detroit, with Eris Drew headlining. As it stood, we celebrated Samhain XX with an over the top stream celebrating so many facets that we find fascinating, a place for total immersion into interesting music and cutting edge thoughts for a whole weekend at our favorite time of year. This was broadcast continuously for over 30 hours on October 31 — November 1, 2020. 
 
If the world is going to burn, this is what we want to hear, who we want to be surrounded by. Thank you so much to every artist for sharing your art and musical vision. Active on the parisian electronic music circuit from the late 2000s, Coxone started out as an writer and podcast curator for the highly influential music blog Get The Curse, and a founding member of offbeat event promoters MeliMelo.

In 2014 he created Spazio Tempo with Beckenbauer and ZBK, a collective which hosted parties at Batofar, Rex Club and À La Folie, and ran until 2019. Guests included Wata Igarashi, Patrick Russell, Marco Shuttle, Dasha Rush, Yuka, John Osborn, Neel and more. During that period, Spazio Tempo held a residency on Rinse France and played gigs at Concrete (Paris) and IBoat (Bordeaux). They were also resident DJs at the woodporn events, opening nights for DJ Nobu, Claudio PRC, Eric Cloutier and so on.

Since 2021 he has been based in Nantes and concentrating on DJing, self-hosting a regular show on Blast Radio and doing extended sets at Bar 303.

As a DJ, he specializes in both ambient music and danceable sounds, mixing many different influences and always adapting to the mood and setting of events and places.
