Calling upon a vast network of musicians from across the evolving frontiers of visionary music, Liquid Bloom and PERE have gathered the sounds of the global electronica scene into one momentous collection with ‘Afar Remixed.’ 

Consisting of seventeen genre-twisting tracks built from the duo’s trance-inducing musical blueprints, this imaginative remix album dives further into Liquid Bloom and PERE’s shared identity while exploring the cutting-edge world of psychedelic sound design.

Where 2021’s ‘Afar‘ hits its main stride in the realms of organic house, the 2022 remixes delve into a surrealistic mixture of progressive and broken beats within an omni-tempo framework, placing deep basslines and energetic grooves in brilliant opposition to the source material’s acoustic and vocal melodies. 

With reimagined tracks delving into lighter, darker, and more nebulous atmospheres, each author’s signature is made evident in the collection’s energetically diverse and emotionally magnetic structure, creating an experience for listeners that bares all of the hallmarks of a journey through the musical looking glass. 

As excursions into musical realms beyond boundaries become increasingly demanding, it is collections such as this one that reveal the persisting power of collaboration and the resilience of the creative spirit. While some elements of these songs may feel familiar — especially when compared to the source material — there remains an undeniable sense of discovery within each composition that will beckon listeners back into Liquid Bloom and PERE’s unified vision as well as into the expanded worlds of their remixers time and time again.

Over The Moon is delighted to present our sophomore release, the debut release from a bright new talent on the downtempo scene.  Encounters, from Bay Area based multi-instrumentalist and producer Tyler Hovestadt, is a project that seeks to find balance between organic musicality and electronic exploration.  On 'A Path Beyond', Encounters gently evokes a sense of calm through uplifting tones and thoughtful progression, enveloping the listener in a cocoon of heart centered magic.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Tyler Hovestadt began his musical endeavor by experimenting and improvising with synthesizers as a part of garage jam sessions with his friends. After furthering his craft in sound design and arrangement, he went on to produce his own compositions and establish Encounters. Aiming to marry the digital and analog world, Encounters fuses organic, live-recorded percussion with meticulously constructed electronic soundscapes. 

ABOUT OVER THE MOON:

Over The Moon is the sister imprint of Behind The Sky Music, a record label created by established electronic producer Bluetech which is committed to releasing high quality limited edition vinyl presses of analog and modular synth music.  Formed during the pandemic lockdown, Over The Moon is a collaboration between label partners and longtime friends Evan Bartholomew (Bluetech) and Maggie Houtz (DJ Maggie). The two work closely on co-producing the weekly Twitch audiovisual show Holotropic Happy Hour as well as the various artists Matters of the Heart compilation in summer of 2021 for Behind the Sky. Maggie’s love for - and encyclopedic knowledge of - downtempo electronica is the guiding force in curating a catalog of gorgeous and emotional electronic music.   Over The Moon was born out of an inspiration to showcase more explicitly electronic, beat-driven music that sits just outside the parameters of the Berlin school ambient and analog synth-oriented releases of Behind The Sky.

'Be The Glitch' is a 140 BPM breakbeat journey that moves between soaring flute melodies, choral stabs, and a bass-driven drop. Opening with Marianne Williamson’s iconic Our Deepest Fear quote, the track frames resistance and disruption not as chaos, but as empowerment. Later, the flutes and choir return, softening the weight of the low end and carrying the track to its close; leaving listeners with both impact and reflection. In its final statement, it dares listeners to become the glitch in the system.

Subaqueous presents his 7th album, Shatter Spell. The album undulates through pulsing rhythms and swirling melodies to bring the listener to a hypnogogic state. It asks us to deeply look to the shadows within and take the steps needed into the light.

Shatter Spell was made over a year with collaborations across the world. Some of the worlds greatest instrumentalists poured their heart into this album. Marya Stark brings her tounges of chaos on many of these tracks to invoke the mythic.
