Steven’s formative years unfolded in Kalamazoo, where he embarked on his educational journey at Cooper Elementary School. He subsequently attended Northwood Elementary and Galesburg-Augusta Intermediate School. The Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools district, established in 1951, serves the communities of Galesburg and Augusta, aiming to “be the preferred small-school district in our region.”  ￼

At the age of seven, Steven faced the profound loss of his mother due to complications arising from heroin and pain pill usage. This early tragedy profoundly impacted his childhood, leading to challenges that saw him spending considerable time in juvenile facilities from the ages of 13 to 17. During this period, he attended the Intensive Learning Center (ILC), a program designed for court-ordered youth, collaborating with the Family Court, Day Treatment Intensive Learning Center Program, Juvenile Home, and local districts to facilitate the successful reintegration of adjudicated youth into their communities.  ￼

Pursuit of Education and Personal Development

Demonstrating remarkable resilience, Steven obtained his General Educational Development (GED) certificate. Recognizing the burgeoning significance of technology, he pursued an online degree in cybersecurity from the University of Phoenix, underscoring his commitment to personal and professional advancement.

Central to Steven’s journey is his wife, Shaneese Kerney (née Hale-Henry), whom he credits as the cornerstone of his motivation and success. Shaneese’s unwavering support and partnership have been instrumental in Steven’s transformative journey. Together, they are the proud parents of three children: Dane, Marcello, and Jilaya. This close-knit family unit has provided Steven with profound purpose and direction, reinforcing his dedication to creating a nurturing and supportive environment for his children.

T-20 is a brilliant and dynamic rap artist whose street-inspiredmusic is compelling and refreshing to the ears of music-lovers everywhere. The Evanston, Illinois native started recording at the age of 22, however his career really began with his early musical influences of notable artists NWA, Scarface, Rakim, Jay-Z, Tupac, and The Notorious B.I.G. Around the age of 7, his mother joined the U.S. Army, which required them to relocate frequently. Exposure to various cultures and places, like Missouri, Washington state, and Germany, enabled him toexpand his perspective of the world and further cultivate hisstyle and love for music. As T-20 grew older, his inspirations began to include his life in the streets. This troubled lifestyle would soon prove to be destructive, and the birth of his son wasthe motivation he needed to turn his life around. In fact, his family continues to be his driving force, enabling him to build his Money Sprinters empire.
The artist is undeniably making his presence felt in the Chicago music arena. T-20’s talent has earned him the South by Southwest Music Festival platform in Austin, Texas, where he will be headlining the Chicago Everything Showcase on March 13th. He has been featured in blogs such as SSNation and Fake Shore Drive, has made appearances on the internet radio station Windy City Underground, and has musical collaborations that include Gorilla Zoe, LEP, Bo Deal, and many local Chicago artists. He currently has two projects under his belt*; “Land ofBosses” (with Bo Deal) hosted by DJ VDub and “Crumbs to Bricks” hosted by DJ Sean Mac.
T-20 combines hip hop, gangsta rap, trap, and drillin’ music into what he calls a “spicy bowl of gumbo”. With the hard truth of street life that is tied into his music, he presents a lyrical side of himself that is approvingly honest.
