Washington, D.C.-based FIBRE and Glasgow-based ev.exi team up on Montaime to propose a toast: “Here's to You”, a French Electro-flavored single that’s an ode to the fans and artists that helped solidify the Future Funk scene.

Since their 2018 collaboration “Cascara (ft. FIBRE)”, Future Funk pillars FIBRE and ev.exi explored new ways to fuse their unique sonic hallmarks: FIBRE’s plunderphonics expertise with ev.exi’s massive, dirty basslines. The two branched out into their roots to fuse not only their identities, but their French House and Future Funk inspirations.

Now, FIBRE and ev.exi proudly debut their new single on Montaime with “Here's to You”, a housey love letter to the Future Funk scene that took over 3 years in the making.

Tunes such as "You're Gonna" and "The Spot" takes you back to that nostalgic French Touch sound of the '90s while still bringing a strong mixture of modern-day Pop and Nu Disco. In addition, for lovers of hard floor-stomping House Music that will make to groove till you can't take it anymore you'll be pleased to hear "I'm Loving" and many more! This album has been so much fun to experience with everyone involved at every step of the way. I am thankful to my collaborators Doktor Plekter, Le Phunk, and That's Matt! for making this project all come together. e·go·tism - noun - the practice of talking and thinking about oneself excessively because of an undue sense of self-importance.

Basically, this is Nayte the Hermit's (@naytethehermit) moment of self-awareness, and the eternal internal struggle of musicians, swinging between narcissism & self-loathing. Not to fuel this huge ego any more, but Nayte's songwriting and production reach a new peak in this EP on DESKPOP. You may have heard their feature on the compilation DESKPOP: Pink Version, in which Nayte contributes cute vocals to a track produced by Jellybear. Often it sounds like a self-duet when switching between well-crafted vocal filters, both hyping themself up and talking themself down. "EGOTISM I" is a fantastic debut EP and will be stuck in your head for ages.
